First Hiroshima then Nagasaki. Both cities filled with smoke, blood, and demolished buildings. Imperial had survived the first bomb in Hiroshima, and now the second in Nagasaki.
Was not surrendering worth it? Was it really?
Of course it was. If he surrendered he'd be a disgrace to his family, and all of Japan.
If he wasn't going to surrender, then is next option was the more honorable one in Japanese culture, suicide. Just like his people were forced to do when the Americans were too close to winning a battle.
The Japanese male decided that he would do just that, he was very strict on his religion, his culture, and honor, he was not about to have an American take his honor away, or kill him. If he was gonna die by anyone's hands it would be his own.
He fell too his knees then took off his war hat, his cat ears now showing and his tail was swaying, he grabbed his katana which was on the ground next to him.
Imperial turned the sword around, the blade was now aiming at his chest and his hands were firmly holding the handle. He took a deep breath then got ready to plunge the sword into himself but was stopped by a voice-
"Wait!! What are you doing?! I'm not letting you do that too!! Put the fucking sword down!!"
Imperial looked up and into the distance and saw America there.
Of course America would want to kill him himself. Or that's what the Japanese man thought at least. "I'm not dying by your hands! Leave me be!!"
"I'm not going to kill you, I've seen so many of your people kill themselves because they wouldn't surrender. This war has forced so many of your own people to die by their own hands. I know. You say it's for honor, but trust me, suicide is the worst thing you could do-" America tried to slowly approach the neko, "Don't do this, you have a son and daughter to look after, trust me surrendering is that bad... Remember how you felt when Reich killed himself? Well your kids are going to feel that way too, you don't want that."
Imperial slowly stood back up, the sword was still aimed at himself, "I only have a daughter. My son is dead to me."
"Fine!" America was getting frustrated, "Don't do it for your son do it for your daughter!! And you must have a lover or something if you have kids-"
"My wife is dead. I killed her. And my other love killed himself because of you and your allies." Imperial glared at him, "If I do this then I could see him again, and you probably want me dead, why the hell are you stopping me?!"
"I don't want you dead. What you did was horrible. Everything you did was. Unit 731, the Chichijima Incident, you raped, killed, and tortured the Chinese and did horrible experiments on them, you cannibalize people and you torture prisoners of war which include MY soldiers, but I don't wish death on you."
"Why not..? What do you have to gain from trying to convince me to not take my own life? Are you trying to make yourself some kind of hero or something?" The neko let out a soft growl then slowly started putting the sword down, "If you're not gonna kill me then what do you want?"
"I want you to accept that what you did was wrong, then pay the price for your crimes. You could change if you want to, I witnessed terrible people change. Like my father, he used to be the biggest and most ruthless empire in the world and now here he is trying to help people that you and Reich hurt. You can change too, for your kids."
Imperial put the katana away and stared at America for a bit. He was trying to figure out what to do. He didn't want to surrender, he would never. He'd win this war for his dead lover and to prove that he himself is a powerful country. "Fine. I won't kill myself but.. I won't surrender either."
"That's fucking stupid, you can't win, your on your own. Just admit that what you did was wrong then turn yourself in-_
"No. I'm not going to. I refuse to let this war end in your favor. I'm going to win this. Just you watch. Now get out of my country." He grabbed a yumi bow and arrow then chuckled a bit, "I never miss with a bow, I suggest you leave right now or I'll kill you right here. I don't see any weapons on you at the moment."
"Fine... But you're not gonna win. You're all alone. Why don't you understand that you won't win?" America started walking away, there was a helicopter in the distance that he was walking towards. Imperial put the bow and arrow down, he wasn't actually going to kill him, if anything that was the last thing he'd do. America just technically saved his life, he couldn't just kill him.
He owed America his life now. But he didn't want to admit that, or try to repay him. He didn't want America to realize that Imperial owed him anything so he kept quiet.
But if the time came where America was about to die, Imperial would save him to repay this supposed debt he had now. America could care less about this situation but Imperial felt that it was important. For now he'd just keep an eye on the other country and make sure that he stayed safe despite them both being in war right now.
It was obvious that the Japanese would loose. Imperial knew that he couldn't win, but if he was going down, he was going to do it with a fight. He wasn't going to surrender, not now or ever.
