First year is mainly made up of me trying to impress Professor Rockwell, being made fun of by the Marauders (that's what Potter, Black, Pettigrew, and Lupin call themselves), defending myself from the Marauders, earning top grades, and obsessing over getting better marks than my brother.
I noticed that Lupin was absent every now and then, but I didn't really pay attention to it.
One day, I had a note passed to me in Transfiguration. I checked to see if McGonagall would be able to see me read it. I opened the piece of parchment and it read: "My Dearest Joan,
You don't seem to realize the amount of admirers your wit and beauty attract. To let you know how much you mean to me, I'll tell you face to face, just meet me near the dented suit of armor on the second floor.
Love,
Your secret admirer"My eyes widened and I look around the room, no one seemed to notice my bewilderment. The only thing to do was to meet this person and have my questions answered.
As I made my way up to the 2nd floor, I saw that the bathroom was flooded again.
When I made it to the suit of armor, I waited for for another 5 minutes. I start to crumple the paper up and walk away.
"Wait!"
I turned around to see a flash of red light meet my face directly.
I fell to the floor and I realized I was covered in mud and the smell of it was fowl. I didn't see anybody to whom the voice might have belonged.
Suddenly, I felt my hair yanked back and it was Crabbe from Slytherin, he yelled, "I bet you thought it was Lupin!" He let go of my hair altogether and my head dropped, I wasn't able to see where he might have gone.
I heard footsteps approaching down the corridor and I quickly remembered the flooded bathroom, it was most likely it was empty. I stood up and ran to the bathroom.
The only thing I heard was an overflowing toilet. So, I made my way to the sink and looked at myself in the mirror. My hair was soaked with mud and my robes were stained. The smell was the worst. It smelled awful and I was sure that the hex I was hit with guaranteed this stench would remain after the mud was washed away. I looked horrible. Why me? Couldn't they have targeted someone else? I began to cry. I covered my eyes with my hands as I sobbed quietly so no one could hear me.
Then, I heard sobbing from a toilet stall. This bathroom was supposed to be closed because a ghost always flooded it.
The sobbing became wailing and the water level spanning across the floor rose. Was that the ghost? I slowly approached the stall and said, "Are you okay in there?"
The stall door flew open to reveal a transparent girl with glasses, she cried, "Are you here to make fun of me too?"
"No. In fact, I was worried you were hurt."
"I have been for quite some time."
"Oh... uh... well... excuse me. I need to be somewhere." I lied. I really just wanted to avoid a conversation.
She dived into the toilet and I stood there momentarily trying to collect my thoughts on the matter. Until, I heard footsteps coming in.
"Hello? This bathroom is closed, no one is supposed to be in here." A familiar voice echoes.
I turned around to see the handsome face of Professor Rockwell. I quickly looked at the state of my robes and blushed.
"Oh no," he said as he quickly came to my aid, "Who did this to you?"
I really didn't want to make any trouble, so I said, "It's just a potion assignment that went wrong..."
He sniffed the air and curiously asked, "What was in that potion?" He scrunched his nose up. I looked down.
