They say tigers don't change their stripes. But I would change everything, just to wake up next to you tomorrow.

"Cheers to that. Honestly, I'm just so done with all this bullshit. It's a new year!" I said, clinking glasses of champagne with Rhylee, and my best friend, Hannah. The three of us cheered as the music around us vibrated the walls. "Everything will change."

"Don't come at me with that 'New Year, new me' bullshit, (Y/N)," Hannah says, slurring her words, alcohol on her breath. "You said that last year."

"Maybe this year it'll actually happen," Rhylee shrugs after taking a sip of her drink. "Like finally losing your virginity..." The two of them burst out laughing.

I give a sarcastic laugh, "You guys are absolutely hilarious! Way to tell the whole world." Downing my drink, I excuse myself, walking up to the bar.

"Tequila soda, on the rocks." The bartender nods back at me as they begin preparing my drink. I hold my face in my hands as I look around the room. My sister was right. The concept of virginity is so overrated. It's completely unnecessary. I just haven't found anyone mature enough to understand that yet, hence, my virginity. Maybe this year.

The bartender turns back to me, sliding my drink across. I thank them before looking up. God, this night couldn't get any worse. Glancing across the bar, I spot an incredibly noticeable Dr. Spencer Reid, who also looks incredibly uncomfortable. I wave down the bartender, sliding her my card."Can you close the tab?" She nods, taking the card as I quickly order an Uber. Drink in hand, I thank the bartender and head back to my booth. "I'm gonna head out, I'm over the new year already."

"What happened?" Rhylee asked. I nudge my head towards my infamous neighbor's booth across the bar. The two girls both look that way. "Hm. Maybe it's a sign!" Hannah joked.

"Honestly, she's right. Like cute little enemies to lovers. You guys could be the next Chuck and Blair." Rhylee responded. I thought she was on my side with this.

"Sorry to break it to you, but I don't think we're gonna have a grand moment at the top of the Empire State building. Nice thought though."

"Whatever! It's for the plot. Give us a nice slow burn." Only Hannah would insist on that. She was a sucker for a slow burn.

I roll my eyes, "Text me when you get inside the Uber, and when you get home. Love you guys, get home safe!"

"Got it, text us when you get home. See you tomorrow!" The pair wave me goodbye as I walk towards the front, the January air hitting me. I look around for my ride as I gently feel someone bump into my shoulder.

"I am so so very sorry for that!" I turn to find a drunk blonde. "Oh, you're very pretty. Don't you think so Spencer?"

"Just when I thought it was gonna be a good year." I exaggerated. Spencer rolled his eyes at me.

"Oh no, the pretty girl doesn't like pretty boy!" The blonde girl sighed, sounding genuinely disappointed as she stumbled a bit.

"We have to go now. Come on Garcia, let's get you home." Spencer pushed past me, allowing her to get into her Uber and closing the door for you. I glared at him as he turned back towards me. "Happy New Year to you too, (Y/N). You're not even 21, what are you doing at a bar?"

"I could ask you the same thing. The bar doesn't seem like the typical scene for a Dr. Spencer Reid."

"At least it's legal. How are you even getting home? It's not like your driving."

"That is none of your business," I replied, raising my voice.

"Why do you have to be such a bitch all the time? What if I was gonna offer you a ride?"

"Thanks, but I'd rather walk." I finish our bickering, excusing myself as I see the Uber pulled up. I look back to see Spencer brush a strand of hair from his face, scoffing as he walked towards another car, getting in the driver's seat. Hopefully, I beat him there so we don't have to finish this conversation.

"Thank you, have a nice night," I say to the driver as they pull up in front of my apartment complex. Quickly getting out of the car, I rush inside, away from the cold air outside. I pull out my keys once I reach my floor, only to be greeted by the lanky doctor once more. How lovely. I'm too tired to even give him any form of attention. I push past and walk to my door to see a note taped to the door again. "Did you see who left this here?" Not gonna lie, I was expecting him to say no. If I didn't see anyone then how could he? We got here at the same time. But I still thought I'd ask.

"Nope. Maybe it was your boyfriend. Or girlfriend." He laughed. I turned to glare at him.

"It's not like you've brought anyone around either. Shocker."

"Fuck off." He deadpanned.

"Gladly!" I smiled, flipping him off as I stepped inside my apartment, letting the door lightly slam. as I hear his do as well. That man makes my blood boil, and I can't explain why. I lock the door and set the taped note on the counter beside the previous one before entering my bedroom to change and wash up for bed.

Spencer's words linger on my mind as I lay in bed. There's no way all that arguing is good for either of your blood pressure. We both need to always have the last word, and that's probably why we don't get along. Frankly, he doesn't even deserve my two cents, but I subconsciously allow him to be worth my time. My hard-headed self won't allow another person to be right. Mostly because he is wrong. Maybe that should be my New Year's resolution. A fresh mindset. A new attitude...
