Years ago..

Bella's POV

"Okay class, your current first ranker Ysabella will be our representative for the 1st Grader Literature Contest School's Edition and if she won she will be qualified to compete against the other schools out there"

"Woah, that's amazing Bella!"- Demi

"T-Thanks.."- I uttered..

I'm always the shy type so oral recitations or anything that concerns active speaking was never my thing but I excel on written ones because you never really need to speak out your answer...my voice is very weak and probably when compared it's just volume 10-14

"umm..teacher..when...uh.."

As you expected..it's very soft but still a little bit audible..maybe teacher didn't hear my voice and just spouted out her reminders and views expecting that would be the one I would have said.

"We, your teachers, will have you write 3 free verse poems of different topics. Contest is on Friday."

"Understood Teacher.." and placed my head down again..looking directly at the floor.

...

It's the day of the contest. There are 4 sections including mine. I also get nervous but what seems to be peculiar is that the other 3 aren't showing any signs of nervousness while I'm right hear like a shivering baby duck lost from her mother and there's a hungry knives-maker right in front of me ready to chop me anytime.

"Make a 5-10 line free verse poem on happiness"

The instructor said. We were given 35 minutes to complete our work and I didn't waste any of those times. I am confident with my abilities and I promised teacher I'd do my best..my parents won't be here 'till lunch time because of their job so only teacher was there to cheer me on. I kinda envied the other 3 competitiors because their parents were there since the very start. Bella! Focus! Write already!

"Happiness is There"

Happiness is a feeling,

never could it be described well by words alone.

Eveyone is capable in getting it.

Some are the reasons,

Others are the walls to it.

When you are with the things you like,

When you achieved something,

When you feel that you are loved,

When you enjoy stuff

Happiness is there.

Ever since I was able to read and write, I took interest in reading books and other literary works which help add my current knowledge with new ones.

Then the instructors said time is up and we were to pass our self-made works to them. I went back like the others but not a smile would be shown at my face for happiness was not there.

"Great job son!"

"Thanks mom!"

"You did it sweetie!"

"Thank you mama..papa!"

"That's great!"

"Aww..thank you!"

then there was me..

"I made it!"

that's what I would say because I finished the contest but who should I say it to..if my parents aren't here...

"Ysabella!'

That was the voice of my teacher shouting out to me. Calling me.

"Come here! You did a good job out! It's good that you stayed focused!"

That's what she said and I turn to face her...she was glowing. I saw a very bright cheerful smile caked in her fair face and somehow she acted quite motherly to me.

...

Moments later, the results were announced which was that I was the second placer and a guy name Rydell Kenneth Collins came out on top as the winner, much to my expectations.

Since I was younger, I'm a sensitive girl and when I was about to let my tears flow, the girl in a red business dress anounced my name together with that Rydell to be the representatives for the Inter-School Contest on Literary 1st Grade Edition next week Wednesday. I was about to explode of happiness and so did teacher. I admit I was defeated but so what? I am still included at the contest against other schools!

...

It's time for the contest and I was seated next to Rydell..the only thought I had that time was his name...uh. Rydell..sounds both unique-ly-weird and unique-ly awesome and then the contest initiated.

"Topic..Appearances and Attitude"

Sounds complicated but like what teacher thought me..make it simpler.

Appearances is equal to what people look like and attitude is what there inside is despite what they look like.

"Remember kids..Even if you are just 1st graders..think deep alright?"

and then we started writing...

Funny thing, this Rydell and I seems to get along well and he has some amazing ideas no wonder he defeated me.

We were getting along well except for one MAJOR detail: we argued on the title.

I said that it has to be Hidden while he protested and insisted that it should be Unnoticed. We argued and fought and before we knew everyone was staring at us but they didn't heard us.Thank goodness that it's rather noisy outside!

So to end this I wrote on our to-be-submitted entry, "Hidden and Unnoticed"

When the awarding ceremony took place, we garnered 3rd place but oh well, we just laughed it off.

and that was our first encounter...

but how should I know that such guy would become part of my life later, he made such a big impact and if it weren't for this we never met and guess what..

He does not even know my name!
