One month before the meet
It had been a few weeks later that I felt the shift. After, the day I woke up my father wanted me to train to be his personal guard. It wasn't that bad at first, some of this stuff I already knew. But after awhile, it became harder to master my abilities and strength. I could barely control my own powers and my father was already asking questions of it. He told me I would lead an evolutionary rise to O'khasis. I told him I didn't even know how to activate my own powers. I could light tiny flames on my fingers but only for a certain time. He assigned me one of the Jury of Nine members to be my personal combat trainer, she was an amazing teacher, Katelyn the Fire Fist was like a mother to me. Being mine was dead. We trained daily, if not I was mastering, or trying at least, my powers.
I was meditating when I felt it.
Nature, was one again.
I tried to look for where it was coming from but did not succeed in the task. I began to head back when I heard a commotion from the battle arena, where a tall boy about my age stood. His blue hair shined in the light. He wore a hunters outfit, with a satchel on his right side. His eyes were a tainted sea green. He was talking to one of the other Jury of Nine members, his voice had a accent that rang through the stadium.
He argued of taking shelter from a incoming storm,
"I need a place to stay! Isn't there a inn?! " He sound panicked, Jeffery the Golden Heart, was speaking to him,
"Sir, we have one in at the moment and it is very occupied due to the storm. " Suddenly I felt all eyes on me. I turned to see my father, he didn't have to tell me what he wanted. He wanted me to resolve this issue. I began to walk over to them and put a smile on,
"Is there a problem? " The boy turned to me and sighed,
"I need a place to stay and this gentleman is denying my access to shelter! " He barked, pointing to Jeffery. I thought about this for a while before getting a brilliant idea,
"You're welcomed to stay in my home if you please. " I smiled, it was quite a nice sight to see. His dimples showed his excitement. I lead him to his temporary estate, the big cream colored cottage was separated from the kingdom. It lay deep in a forest no one was aloud to enter except guards, the exception of me and my father as well.
I opened the large door with ease, slipping into a hallway. I turned left and lead him to his room. It didn't take long to get there. I stopped and turned to face the large door on the pastel purple wallpapered wall. I opened it to reveal a room with bookshelves and desks. In front of me was a big king sizes bed with green sheets. The wall was decorated with very light green flowers. The windows sideways checkers design show the forest surround the home. He entered, a small gasp left his mouth. I smiled at his surprised expression. I explained to him he could use whatever he liked whenever. I showed him his bathroom next. The basic washtub and other essentials.
I couldn't tell what made me decide to try this, but. After I had left my home I went into a clearing I used to practice my powers. The clearing which was once full of grass was now bare dirt. Any piece of grass that survived was singed, I walked to the middle of the patch. I concentrated on anything besides what had happened or anyone. But again, for the millionth time I thought of destruction. And death, everyone told me it will go away when I get older. But everyone says stuff like that, and it's not true. Unless, you're me, a tool. I could feel the heat rising around me, I closed my eyes. When I opened them fire danced around me. Then rain, not the good calming kind that smell good. Even though all rain smells good. This rain could destroy and harm so many things and people. And I was mad.
Mad at my ability, I guess the next part is my fault. I let it happen, I let O'khasis flood. The streets were bare, many guards where trying to keep the water from getting to important stuff. I walked through the pathways, softly humming to myself. Smiling at the case, I walked to the arena for my daily training. Interrupted a rude preppy miss fit,
'You! You caused this! I don't know what you did but fix it. " She screeched as I walked past her. She grabbed my shoulder, in instinct I spun around and slapped her. She fell back, water splashing as she landing in the clear liquid. The water began to calm down, the rain clearing and bringing in a soft mist. I felt much calmer.
Well I had to train in the forest with Katelyn till the water cleared. Today she taught me weaponry combat. She had her soft stern look as usual,
"Make sure you stay clear from them. But not to far. It all depends on arms length. " I smirked,
"What does arm lengths have to do with weaponry? " I knew the answer from the glint in her eyes,
"Well, depending on how long their arms they could strike you closer or would have to run in. But it's depending on their stance will you know... " I began to pay closer attention. It was quite simple. To long, get gone. To short, bring forth. Soon, we were getting ready for combat positions. I picked my weapon, a black dagger with tints of purple. I took my stance, Katelyn had her usual golden gantlet claws. She struck first as always, I used my speed as my advantage this time. I swerved passed her and kept up pace as she fought.
We both ended up with minor scratches and bruises. But, it was better then my first time. I ended up with a broken leg and deep cut. Katelyn apologized after, explaining she was so use to training with one of the other Jury of Nine that she forgot I was still learning. Well now we were sitting on the ground. Leaning on a tree, what was started in the morning ended in the late night. We were barely out of breath but our bodies were tired. Katelyn turned her head to face me,
"I have to tell you something. Well, rather ask. "
"What is it? " I questioned,
"What would you say if you were offered a guard position? " My eyes beamed, I didn't care how tired I was, I didn't care how my wounds ached in misery, I yelled in excitement,
"Yes! Yes! I've dreamed of this for so long! " She laughed to herself,
"I haven't even told you who it was yet. What if it's Ivy? "
"I don't care! As long as I become a guard! " Her once smiled faded to a frown,
"Well, what if I told you... It was Zane. " I turned to her,
"Well, it's what I've been training for. " She got up, she took me and we headed back to the Kingdom. The tall walls covering most of the view from the place. By now the water disappeared, leaving the ground a damp gray.
Katelyn dropped me off at me and my fathers home. I waved her goodbye and went inside to prepare dinner. I made some of my fathers favorite food, it was as I finished did he enter. I put a smile on, he says I should smile more. So I do. He sat down at his desk, signing some papers when he called out to me. I finished his plate and brought it over to him,
"Ducky, I have to speak to you about something important. " I genuinely smiled as I turned to sit next to him,
"Ducky, Katelyn has reported that your training is outstanding. You twos battles used to last one hour now last an entire day. " I could feel my head buzz. I rarely got compliments from my father. When I did it wasn't usually directly from him.
I sat there patiently as he continued on,
"Ducky I have a guard position for you. You would be guarding me of course. " Cheering in my mind, I could feel the buzzing getting louder,
"So, do you take the offer? " I wanted to jump up, but around my father I have to keep my composer,
"I would be honored to serve as your guard father. " He gave a nod,
"But now, tell me. Your powers? " I sort of looked away,
"The flooding was you? " I gave a nod. Suddenly I was pulled into a hug. For the first time in three years I was given a hug. It felt weird, my father let me go and patted my head. His one blue eye shined in the golden flame lighting. He had his mask on but I could tell he was somewhat smiling,
"Now I have a task for you. Have you ever heard of the Irene Dimension? "
