Chapter 4 | New Friends

I think I remember when I was younger I had a problem with playing with fire. It ended as I got older though, my father said it was just a phase of chaos. He said he was like that at my age as well. The flames remind me of dancers though, dancing until the music stops. I always liked dancing, I used it as a fighting technique. I never used it unless needed to though. I wanted to be like the fire, graceful and yet destructive.

I was leaning up against the tree, it's warm bark helped warm my cold skin. I was humming a soft melody only I knew. It was, again, of a god who was trapped in immortality. Forcing him to watch every friend he made die, and he could never join them. It also told of him falling in love with another, when they marry though after a year his lover cheats. After he finds out they separate, leaving him heart broken and unable to keep the balance. He tries to move on but can't, so he then disappears to find himself. I never find out what happens to him in the end, I just know he sets off to make amends with his once lover.

Anyways, I'm sitting up against the tree when I hear a whisper. Or more like a call out, the voice is faint, almost silent. I look around waiting, I ignore it and go back to humming. But I keep hearing it, so I get up and look around. The voice is growing louder as I near the other side of the tree,

"Hello? " It calls out,

"Hello? Who are you? "

I hear the voice stop, I come closer to see a person, their long brown hair and big sea blue eyes look up at me. Freckles dot across their face, they wear short blue pants and a big golden-black coat that covers a maroon uniform. A sorcer. At first they back up, I couldn't tell if I heard a gasp or something, but whatever it was wouldn't compare to the noise they made next.

They look up at me, their eyes widen real big, bigger than before, while their pupils go small. At first I get scared, thinking they might be panicking, so I tried to go and help them,

"Hey, you ok? "

They backed up, I stopped walking. I didn't expect that reaction, I had to calm them down before something happened,

"It's ok! I'm not a danger! "

I might as well been mute because they didn't listen one bit. They ran forward, screaming and yelling names and curses I've never heard of. I dodged and ran, being faster than them I climbed the tree, forgetting the leaves were flames. I got to the highest point before calling down once more,

"It's ok! I'm not any danger! I'm just as confused as you. "

They looked around, than up. You would feel as if you were drowning in that sorcers eyes. They finally calmed down, resulting to conversations,

"What is your name?! "

"Was that a question or an order? " I half-joked,

"Answer! " They hollered looking up,

"If I tell you will you let me come down? " They nodded. I hopped down anyways, giving them a startle,

"Hey! You said you would tell me your name first! "

I snickered,

"It's Ducky. "

"No last name? "

"I don't trust you with my last name. " Scoffing, they crossed their arms.
