[Chapter One: Flight Back]
I would sometimes wonder why such a cruel thing happens in this world that we're in, we share the same air and land, but still...
Human race and technology are advancing, but I wonder when will chaos stop all over the world. The hatred, the madness, the greed, the power, the money, and everything that can make someone a powerful person.
War crimes.
Whenever I hear chaos in certain place, I always think of the children... The innocent little children who has no idea what's happening and has no idea why is this happening.
The traumas. The feeling that they know they aren't safe.
I cherish children, I have a soft part for them. I cannot bare seeing a kid being in a place of danger and if ever I see one, I'm willing to risk my safety to save that kid away from that danger.
Just like what I'm doing now. Before our mission to get the attache case was occured, I received a message from a foreign number. It was a message that lured me to go back to my country and to save the children that's being kept as hostages in the middle of the woods.
I never planned to go back there, but with this situation, I don't think I could stop myself from leaving Amsterdam. What I did years ago was so selfish to the point that I can't see myself going back, parang gusto kong sikmuraan ang sarili ko kapag bumalik pa ako roon. Not because I don't want to live in a nightmare again... It's because I failed to do the only thing that could save hundred of children way back then.
---
"Hey."
I groaned a little when someone was shaking my shoulder to wake me up. I slowly opened my eyes and looked around, we're still at the plane that's heading back towards Amsterdam.
"We're about to land so I woke you up."
I looked at the woman beside me, I closed my eyes for a moment before yawning.
"Just wake me up again if the plane already lands, Miss Martini." I crossed my arms up to my chest and tried to doze off but I couldn't. If someone suddenly woke me up, I will never able to fall asleep again.
After some few seconds, I heard her sighed.
"I'm worried for my brother. I don't know what's happening to him right this moment. He shouldn't barged in the scene earlier."
"If he didn't, Eris would be dead by now." I said, half whisper.
"... Yeah, I know."
"I thought you'll head back to Russia?" she asked as I heard her move on her seat.
Minulat ko ang mga mata ko ang tumitig sa kawalan. "I am, I'll just pack my things up and leave tonight."
"That's a lot of jet lag... You sure don't want our help? I know you love children and I know children are the reason why you're going back there, you sure you don't need some back up?"
I lightly shook my head. Although I might need some back up, I don't want them to be involved with the mess there. It's my job to secure the children in that area and even though I don't want to go back, I have no other choice but to disobey myself.
When she finally went silent, I did the same too and waited for the plane to land while staring outside the window.
As I thought of the message that I received, I couldn't help but to felt amaze.
He's alive. I never knew about it.
I could still remember what happened before I arrived at Amsterdam for tge first time. I was given a new name, fake nationality, and fake residence address. That was the time that I knew... My whole life will be different.
