Falling Slowly

Chapter 15

Draco watched from the other side of the island as Scorpius started to eat his ice cream, he wanted to make amends with him first since it would be easier to get him to forgive him and get him on his side when he asked Hermione on a date. He had no clue what a proper date looked like when you are in hiding but he would think of something. 

After he read the letter, he sat outside for a little while think about what it said, Astoria wanted him to get a second chance at love. She wanted him to be happy. He thought after she died that he could never be truly happy with another woman...but then Hermione Granger walked into his life after ten and he found himself happier when she was around him. Maybe it was time to let those walls that he had placed around his heart crumble down and let the light in. It wasn't going to be easy letting someone all the way in after all these years but he wanted to do it.

"You were right, I do have more than friendly feelings for Miss. Granger and I'm sorry for lying about it."

"So does that mean Miss. Granger is going to be my new mum?" He asked.

"Easy there, let's start with a date before we get to that." He said. Scorpius stayed silent for a second while he stared at his ice cream before he looked up at his dad.

"I don't hate you, Daddy"

"I know, how about we hug it out?" Scorpius smiled before jumping down off the chair and running around the island to hug his dad. Draco picked him up and hugged him tight before setting him back down.

"Now I just need to get Miss. Granger to take a chance on me." Draco said.

"I can help" Scorpius said making Draco chuckle.

"Okay then, two heads are better than one."

Hermione sighed as she finally unpacked her suitcase, she would have done it early if it hadn't been for Scorpius. She only really did it to distract herself from what was going on downstairs, for some reason she found herself wanting to eavesdrop. She knew that Draco and Scorpius needed to talk about the issue between them and it would be rude of her to eavesdrop on their private conversation. She instead put herself to work and now that her work is done, she grabbed a book that she had grabbed from her bedside at home after she had packed her suitcase. She went onto her balcony that overlooked beautiful woods, she didn't worry about being spotted since she cast the charm Cave Inimicum before she went to bed last night.

She sat down in one of the comfortable chairs and opened the book to the page she had bookmarked then began to read. She hadn't been reading more than five minutes before she heard a noise down below, she got up cautiously and moved to the balcony railing to look below. What she saw shocked her. Scorpius and Draco were holding up a cute handmade sign that said "Will you go on a date with my dad?" She looked at Draco who just raised an eyebrow at her, challenging her to say yes. She could also see a bit of hope and uncertainty in his eyes, she wasn't certain whether the uncertainty was for her answer or if he was uncertain about dating again. Was she really willing to risk it being a horrible mistake? She sighed and smiled, she wasn't going to be the one that lived her life not talking some risks. Sometimes, the biggest risks are those we take with our hearts.

"You really want to go on a date with me?" She asked.

"I wouldn't ask if I didn't want too." He replied. 

"What do you think Scorpius?" She asked turning her gaze to him. "Should I give your old man a chance?"

"Yes!!" Scorpius yelled with a big smile on his face. Hermione turned her attention back to Draco before giving him a smile.

"I guess I'll give you a shot" she said making Draco smile.

"Great, by the way you are older than me so what does that make you? he said.

"It makes her a dinosaur" Scorpius said making Draco burst out laughing. If Hermione had her wand she would have hexed the laughing fool.
