3rd person's POV
"I never said that!"
Mattholomule's eyes widened at Gus' sudden abruptness and boldness.
He stopped himself from walking away and turned fully to him, "What?"
"I just... I don't think it's dumb, like at all, I just thought you were trying to pull something on me, I don't know... that was probably a dumb assumption, huh?"
The other boy paused and slowly shook his head, "No... I was a jerk to you in the past, and I'm honestly sorry for that."
Gus was a bit taken aback by that and searched his eyes, trying to decipher if he was being genuine or not, and for the most part it seemed like he was being honest.
He hesitated and stepped closer to Mattholomule which made the boy hold his breath for a bit, but he wasn't sure why he was so nervous around the other boy.
They both stared at each other in silence, before Gus glanced down at their hands, to see that they were still interlocked, which made Mattholomule glance down too, and they both quickly jumped away with obvious blushes on their faces.
Gus didn't look at him, but said. "Yeah, I can pretend to date you."
