It was the twins, Diamond and Neicey. They busted through the door of Pootie's master bedroom practically out of breath.
"Man getcho ass up the police downstairs banging on the door saying they got a search warrant for you." DeVante said in a booming tone. The police had just interrupted his time with Neicey. The fact that it had taken so long to get her comfortable enough to trust her to dance with, only for the police to come and disrupt them. Neicey already didn't trust people as is, and this made her question her decision of meeting DeVante.
"Oh shit. We gotta get out of here" Pootie said rushing to get himself together.
Lyric wasn't one-hundred percent sure what was going on at the time but the frightened feeling she felt in that moment was a sensation she enjoyed.
"Man can yall get the fuck, yall see we was doing sum." Pootie said, waving them out of the room. He could tell Lyric wasn't herself right now, so it was best for him to get them out the room.
Rolling his eyes, DeVante looked back at Neicey to make sure she was ok.
"Forget allat. I'm too pretty to go to jail" Diamond said in an upbeat tone.
Diamond was known for her fierce and laid-back attitude but when it came down to something involving the feds she couldn't hide her fear. Lyric put her eyes on Neicey and noticed that she was breathing a little heavier than usual. This mostly happens when Neicey was nervous or afraid. Looking around the room to help spark an idea Lyric spotted the dresser and the window behind them.
"Why don't we just go out the window and leave from there." Lyric said, shrugging.
"Yo is you crazy? You think we should jump out a window that's two stories high?" KeVante said in a louder tone.
"He's right, one of y'all could get hurt and ion wanna risk that." Pootie said pacing back and forth the room
"That's just a risk we gon have to take because how the fuck all six of us gon get out of here alive, and not in handcuffs?" Neicey bursted out.
Looking back now they knew this whole situation was fucked up but their minds obviously weren't in the right place then. So, to ensure that everything was gonna go smoothly they made what they thought was a "master plan". Pootie, KeVante, and DeVante were known drug dealers in New Orleans, with this being said they knew for a fact they couldn't hide weight in their house. So, they had a trap house which was intended to hold all weapons, drugs, and any other illegal thing they needed to hide. At the time they thought this was perfect because the trap house was located in the Calliope projects which was just eight minutes away.
"Ok, this what we gon do" Pootie said sitting down on his bed.
They had to plan this out and execute it fast or twelve was going to bust in that door and arrest all they asses.
"We'll go to our trap house, which is bout eight minutes away. We'll take DeVante, and KeVante car cause I'm damn sure they done got my license plate memorized. Once we get there we'll just stay there for the night and let everything cool down. They may not know y'all faces or names but y'all here with us now so no backing out." He said looking at all three of the girls. They started to tie sheets together and tie it to the doorknob to create somewhat of a rope. One by one they started to climb down onto the dead grass.
"Cmon we gotta hurry" KeVante said running towards the direction of the car.
Everybody ran along him but one person.
Neicey.
She was just standing there breathing hard as hell too.
"WAIT yall hold on a min"
Everyone stopped and Diamond stopped running, and walked towards Cece. Hugging her she whispered comforting things into her ear to calm her down.
At this point all eyes were towards Neicey, making them all stop but still cautious of their surroundings.
"Dia i'm scared bro, what gonna happen to us?" asked a shaking Neicey
Shrugging her shoulders, she turned her head to the group, mainly eyeing a concerned DeVante. As if he got the message, he quickly walked towards the two girls.
"You think you could calm her down?"
Nodding his head he held out his arms and Dia placed a still shaking Cece into his arms.
"Cmon ma, you gotta calm down" DeVante said while rocking her a bit. "If you tryna be gang for real you can't get shaken up like this man."
Looking up at him she just snuggled up to him closer. It was a good sign that her breathing was getting regulated, and back to normal. Coming up with an idea he picked her up bridal style, and walking towards the group with a fastening manner.
"Cmon niggas if yall coming, damn".
The group of six scurried into the twins four seater car. Took some time to adjust and fit everybody in there but they managed to work it out. On the way to the Calliope projects the sound of Lauryn Hill's "Nothing Even Matters" blasted throughout the car speakers.
"Still there's no place I'd rather be cause nothing even matters to me." DeVante sang in a high pitch and scratchy tone.
"Oh hellll no. Nigga you cannot sing to save yo ass." Pootie said laughing while looking into the rear-view mirror.
"Facts. Let me show you how it's SUPPOSED to be done" KeVante said, turning the volume up.
The three girls looked at eachother not only laughing but also in shock because these boys have a goofy, more playful side to themselves.
"With you it's never either or cause nothing even matters no more" KeVante sang in his best Lauryn Hill impression.
The group laughed, sang, and talked for the rest of the car ride.
