The House

Chapter 13

"Vim! It's so great to see you, I didn't know you were coming to this show." I yelped as he careened towards me.

"I didn't know you were coming either," Vim was in the Heaven side so he clenched the barrier as we spoke as if he wished to uproot it for a hug. But he quickly realized the public space we were in and changed his demeanor calmly introduced himself and we all spoke. When more contestants started trickling in.

The next person to come in was Chan, he was a model, he had a sharp jawline and he spoke about wanting to test out the waters and how change was essential to growth. Chan wore a red suit which laughed about as he joined the hell side.

Then came Lisa, a dancer, she was really sweet and had an infectious smile, explaining how she was a choreographer trying to build a fan base after she transitioned from a backup stage dancer to a choreographer. She walked into the Hell section as well. She wore a blue suit that was cut on one side to show off her shoulder and extended to her thigh creating almost a dress out of the entire blazer.

In the Heaven section went Ronny, a strong burly actor. He was jolly and cracked quite a few jokes. Very handsome as he wore a silky black shirt that molded onto his muscles. Yeah But I got the sense that he had more intelligence in his muscles than his brain when he started talking about protein powder and the fake grass feeling too fake in the Heaven section where he stood.

Then came Luna, a poet who was showing her face to the world for the first time, she had tanned skin and short hair that she pulled into a ponytail, she was given the Heaven section. Her dress was magnificently long, colored in navy blues and black, it looked like the night sky. What set it apart was the embroidering of zodiac signs and tarot cards along the peplum of her dress. Something that looked great and a statement piece but also quite controversial as the common stereotype goes that girls too into zodiac signs and astrology were a little crazy in the head.

After her came Jasmin, a singer whose biggest pet peeve was when people didn't say her name right I know because it was the first thing she said before she even said her name she set us up to say it right. Needless to say she said her name multiple times, enunciating each of the letters for our benefit. "It's Hasmine not JAsmin," she spoke as she walked into the Hell section. Lisa and I looked at each other, quietly conveying how this was going to be annoying. We smiled and she stood by me as we talked. Creating a sort of mutual camaraderie.

With the last scrape of the door against concrete flooring, a contestant walked in. I turned my head away from the busy conversations, adorn in all white, hair let loose yet composed in a sort of peaceful, carelessness with strands framing her face. Mina smiled brightly, she walked up to the group and making quick eye-contact with me. As she walked closer on her way into the heaven section the voices started to murmur and move in her direction. She introduced herself but she didn't really need one. EVERYONE knew the big artist. Myoi Mina lead singer of the band Angel Asylum.

In the end there were 11 bracelets, five red bone charmed ones given to Max, Chan, Lisa, Jasmin, and Me and six white wings, charms given to Ashlyn, Zeke, Vim, Ronny, Luna, and Mina. The doors were locked and a computerized voice spoke, its voice echoing around the room and cutting through our conversations.

"Hello contestants. We are so happy to welcome you into The House! This is the house you'll be living in till the end of the show, that is if you make it to the end. At the moment you have been split into groups, the Angels and the Devils. While the Heaven side gets all the good the Hell side gets the bad. Womp womp. The Hell side is constricted to their small cottages and will only be supplied with food when buzzers are rung around the house. Also you all get to sleep outside. I hear it's about to get pretty chilly tonight.

When the buzzer rings one of the Angels has to bring you food, if they don't get it, you don't get  to eat till the next buzzer. For now, I welcome you once again into The House. Your luggage is in the back room, Devils if you want yours, guess you'll need to snag an Angel to help you." The line went dead and we all looked at each other. Lisa and I looked at each other in worry.

"Well this won't be great." She spoke. I nodded and looked to Vim and Mina who were conversing animatedly, they looked back at me and smiled reassuringly. Vim even mouthed "I got you." Which put me at ease. And soon enough I had changed out of my attire and laid down on my hard brick like mattress. Though it's firmness would have normally kept me up shifting around for hours I hadn't realize how
exhausted I'd gotten from today and I fell asleep almost as soon as I'd stretched my limbs out.
