Hastinapur......

Royal Palace:

All of the royals of Hastinapur were seated, as the royal court was in session.
V: Pranipat Maharaj, Mahamahim.
The prime minister of Hastinapur, mahatma Vidur bowed respectfully before his elders.

V: Jaisa ki hum sabhi ko gyaat hai, Kuruvansh ke 105 raajkumaaro ki shiksha ab purn ho chuki hai, shigra hi ve mahaan, pratapi yoddhao ke roop mein Hastinapur lautenge.
As Vidur spoke, Bhishma smiled, finally it was time to announce the successor which was Yudhishthir, unofficially. All that needed to be done was to officiate it.

He couldn't think of a ruler, more capable than the eldest Pandav. His kind, generous heart, level headed mind, unmatched wisdom at an early age & intellect was like none other. He was already so dear to the people of Hastinapur, who were eagerly waiting for their crown prince to return back to them from Gurukul.

The first time he met the five little sons of Pandu, was a cherished memory for the son of Maharaj Shantanu & Devi Ganga. The largest pair of lotus-shaped eyes like pools of molten copper had peered shyly up at him from behind Kunti's aanchal.

As those eyes met his experienced ones, he saw wisdom & a sense of justice in them far beyond, Yudhishthir's then toddler self. He'd chuckled heartily at the little one hiding behind his mother, wary of strangers, gently beckoning the child to sit on his other knee, as one was already occupied by extremely sociable Bheem who was nonchalantly perched up there, happily munching on the laddoos Gandhari had sent for them from Hastinapur.

His eyes fell on the younger three Pandavas sitting around him : Arjun, Nakul & Sahadev were squealing excitedly seeing the array of wooden toys he'd presented them with. Arjun was specifically admiring a wooden archer figurine with great delight.

As he finally managed to coax the shy child from his mother's arms & onto his unoccupied knee, he was astounded as Yudhishthir declined Bheem's laddoo, instead picking up one of the large moral value based folktales books he'd brought to be read to the children by their parents & began to read himself.

A small tug on his clothes brought Bhishma out of his thoughts. Further stunning the great warrior into silence, little Yudhishthir proceeded to softly ask him why the prince could have a toy sword to play with, while another village boy he'd befriended couldn't, & recieved scorn when he touched the prince's sword out of curiosity & excitement. Weren't they both god's creations & thus equal?

Even though little Yudhishthir did not get his answer, Bhishma got all the answers to all his questions that very moment. A huge burden was lifted off his chest, as he remembered his mother's words. Yudhishthir would be the one to bring the rule dharm & justice for one & all irrespective of caste, creed or gender, & redeem him from his responsibilities, from this cruel world & allow him to attain moksha.
