The casino was loud.
There was so much happening around me, you could hear the squeals of the winners and the grunts of the losers. Mika and I sat at the bar observing our surroundings.
The casino itself was so grand. The tall ceilings where decorated in the most gorgeous fashion, expensive chandeliers hung down illuminating the space. Laughter seemed to drift around the building accompanied by the love band that was situated in the centre of the room. People walked around in their best dresses, velvet carpet lined the stairs that led to the mezzanines and upper decks. Bouncers stood at the staircases only allowing certain people to go up, if this was what the general publics space looked like I could only imagine the wonders of the upstairs.
"What can I get you ladies" the bartender asked Mika and I.
"Two sex on the beaches please" Mika answered. The bartender nodded and started on our drinks. "So are you and Brecht officially over?"
"Yes" I said, it sounded strange almost as if I was not entirely agreeing with what I was saying. Yes I never wanted to speak to Brecht again, but no, I still love the 16 year old boy I met in high school.
"That's good, you two where never fit for each other anyways" Mika laughed as they started their cocktail.
"What do you mean?" I nodded to the bartender as he handed me my drink
"Well you know" Mika rolled their eyes as they mixed their straw around. "Brecht is loud and your not, it's nothing to be ashamed of"
I didn't even answer their question. I finished my drink faster then I wanted to, my eyes scanned the casino. A man began to walk over towards Mika and I. Mika nudged my arm as they noticed the man.
"He's hot" Mika whispered into my ear,
"I suppose" I whispered back, they stifled a laugh.
The was now standing in front of us, he was attractive but not anywhere near the same calibre of the man from the pier. He had tanned skin and deep brown hair, freckles lined his face like constellations.
"So ladies" thank god I had nothing in my mouth or otherwise I might have slay it out. He sounded like Brecht, he had the same slithering tone.
"Hello" Mika battered their eyelashes. "I'm Mika"
The man looked her up and down and smiled. He grabbed their hand and gently placed a kiss down on it.
"Lance, it's lovely to meet you Mika" from the way he was looking at her, I knew what they wanted to do to each other and I didn't want to stick around for it.
Before he had the chance to do the same to me I quickly stood up and left. I had a mission to complete tonight and hearing Lances all too familiar voice I was reminded of it.
I needed to kiss someone.
After walking around and trying my hardest to not look so lost I considered giving up and going home. At least Mika would be having a good night I suppose, I stood watching a poker table. Running a curl around my finger, and politely rejecting invites to join the game.
"Miss" I don't pay the voice much mind, their where plenty of ladies in this casino. It was only when there was a gap on my shoulder that I turned.
It was the man from the pier.
And he was just as fantastic as I remembered. His soft blonde hair was swept to the side, spare for one curl that hung in front of his face. He wore a white dress shirt with sleeves rolled up to his elbows, his black slacks where held up by a pair of suspenders.
