The school bell rings as I turn the corner. Susie stood there looking troubled as I went out to call for her, she turned around towards the group of guys who were tearing up the WICCA poster.
"Hey, dicks-for-brains" I stop in my tracks when I recognize the boys from our second-period class.
"What's your problem, dyke?" The tallest one of the boys asked. They all laugh at her. My eyes widened as she ran towards the brunette boy who commented on her and I ran after her, ditching my bag.
She launches herself at him but just as he pushes her off and raises his fist to hit him, I pushed Susie out of the way and grabbed the boy's wrist just as it was about to make contact. My blood boiled at the action he was about to pull off and my grip tightened.
"You better make a run for it before I break this hand of yours" With a little more pressure he makes a pained face.
"Come on, let's go guys" He glared at me before running off with his goons.
"Oh my god, are you okay Susie? I'm sorry if I pushed you too hard" I immediately help the girl up as Mrs. Meeks walks towards us and shakes her head disapprovingly.
She told us to follow her and when we got to the office she waited for us to explain. When we did she sighed and said that Susie was suspended for starting the fight.
"Wait, this isn't fair. I saw this happen but they were tearing down the WICCA poster-"
"And that is unacceptable, Ms. Morais. Ms. Putnam started the fight. Violence is not tolerated at Baxter High"
"And what about the fact that he assaulted Susie before? How is that fair? He's verbally abused her as well, why isn't there any action taken against him for that? Why is she the only one being suspended?" I demanded. Mrs. Meeks sighs as she takes her glasses off.
"Ms. Morais, since you're new, there are things you do not understand. Let's just end it here for now, alright? When Principal Hawthorne comes back, we can figure this out then but for now, Ms. Putnam is suspended. You can take her home but you need to come right back" She declares.
Susie takes off and I sigh, following behind the shorter girl. We bump into Roz and I explain everything to her as we follow a distressed Susie outside of the building.
"You can't let them get to you like that, Susie" Roz tried to reason.
"What am I supposed—"
"What happened now?" Sabrina joins us as she gets out of the car with Harvey following behind her.
"I got suspended," Susie cries.
"I'm supposed to take Susie home and then come right back" I explained to the blonde who fell into step with me.
"Except I can't go home, I don't want my dad to know about this" Susie says.
"He won't, then. We'll go somewhere else" Roz another attempt to calm her down, failed.
"Suspended for what? It's not even first period" Sabrina asked, just as confused as her boyfriend.
"I got into a fight" Susie briefly explained.
"With a bunch of asswipes who were ripping our WICCA posters down. Thankfully Cora saved Susie from getting punched" Roz said as I picked up my speed and walked beside Susie so she would stop walking and calm down.
"Those football players? The same ones as before?" Sabrina asked.
"Wait. You got into a fight with football players? How many?" Harvey asked.
