~~~Emile and Remus~~~
"What did you just do?"
"Remus, it's Roman. I can't just let him go alone."
"Yes, you can, you absolutely can."
"Remus," Emile sighs.
"They're not my family, and they're not yours either. You don't owe them anything."
"I'm not going for his family; I'm going for Roman, who is our family."
Remus sighs. "But you don't have to, Roman understands why I'm not there."
Emile sighed. He embraced his partner and held him tight. "I'm sorry, I know you hate these people and you're worried about me, but you don't have to be. I want to go."
"Why?" Remus whined.
"Because I know what it's like to go to family gatherings as the kid no one wanted. You never let me go through it alone so I'm not going to let Roman."
"No, see, you got it mixed up; I'm the kid no one wanted."
Emile sighed, "yes, I know. You poor thing. But remember, your mom chose to keep you."
Remus rolled his eyes. "Ok, ok, you got me. I love that you care so much about my brother, but if it becomes too much, or if they're mean to you at all, promise me, you'll call me and you'll leave." Remus pulled away from Emile to look his beautiful boyfriend in his beautiful eyes.
Emile kisses Remus softly. "I promise."
~~~Remy~~~

Remy walked to work; they can't stand to hear Emile and Remus gush about how much they love each other anymore. Remy spent their whole life believing that love like that was unattainable, impossible.

And if it were really possible, that would mean every relationship Remy has been part of, every person they've ever been with, was all their fault this whole time...

~~~Remy, Past: ~~~
Surprisingly Annette stuck around through the rest of her pregnancy, they had the baby and named it Adel. Felix and Annette seemed really happy and suddenly it seemed like they were like a normal family that didn't fight about paint and wood. It seemed Adel fixed them, shaped their family into a happy, more capable one.
But unfortunately (For Dice and Remy at least) that wasn't the case.
"Remy?"
A cold hand cupped their cheek in the middle of the night, which made them flinch awake.
"It's ok, it's just me," Annette said, "I'm sorry I had to wake you."
"Wha' happened?" They asked.
"I have something for you," Their mother said, putting a pair of sunglasses on them.
"Will that help?" she asks.
They shrug, knowing that she wouldn't wake them up at three in the morning just to give them a pair of sunglasses.
"Remy, mommy has to go away for a while."
"What?"
"Mommy and Daddy need some time apart."
"Forever?" Remy asked.
"Well, sometimes mommies and daddies fall in love with the wrong people. And Mommy's going to find the right person now. Adel and I are going to stay with a friend for a while."
"What about me?" Remy asked.
"Now, listen. The baby needs me right now. It's very selfish to ask me something like that, I'm your mother and I know better than you do. Think about what your sister needs right now."
