///

Cameron let out another breath once he had finally processed what had happened earlier that day. Goddamn, he should've seen the signs from a mile away! He could've done something. He should've. However he didn't. And that made him angry.

He decided not to dwell on it too much during his drive to the school given that he needed to put on a happy face for his son. He couldn't let him see him all vulnurable. So instead he had a look out the window to watch some birds that crowded the streets, along with a sea of people getting through the busy area.

A beautiful day.

Eventually he started to notice the amount of young children walking with parents, finally parking at the school. Cameron smiled as he picked up a bag of candy and a carton of apple juice for Akio. He wanted to explain a serious situation in the most easiest way possible.

He got out of his car and began to walk to the school. He was late but that was okay, he thought, because he wasn't usually late and he had a valid reason for it. Plus, he'd be easily forgiven by the young Akio as he would be immedientally won over by all the sweets he had brought.

But when Cameron approached the playground, he was slightly alarmed by the fact he couldn't see his son anywhere. His eyes started to go in multiple directions of where he could be, but there was no Akio in sight. Frantically, he went over to his sons friend group.

"We haven't seen him," one of them spoke. Cameron chewed on his lip anxiously. "Do you have any idea of where he might of went?" All the children shook their heads. The panicked father tried to look relaxed, but inside he was screaming.

He ran other to numerous parents, desperate find answers.

"Have you seen him?"

"He's about this tall.."

"Please, help me find him!"

Cameron's throat felt taped closed, his lungs refusing to cooperate as he gasped for air. His heart sank to the point where his entire torso hurt. He collapsed to the ground with a feeling of sickness. This wasn't happening. This was NOT happening.

Shakily, he attempted to get back up again. He had to stay strong. He needed to find his son. He couldn't admit defeat just yet. He practically limped over to the teacher that was supposed to be observing the children as they got picked up.

"Do you...," Cameron choked back a sob. "Know where my son is..?" The teacher looked up. "Name?"

"Akio," was all Cameron could whisper out. The teacher's face had gone a bit red once she had realized the situation. "He..Left earlier with another man in a car.."

Cameron's eyes widened as his heart sunk down further. "Funny joke," he laughed out, tears pouring from his eyes. "Stop messing with me." But the teachers face made sure that he knew this was no joke. "You're fucking lying to me!" He snapped, collapsing down again and gripping onto the teachers clothing. He repeatedly punched the teachers stomach gently since he didn't have the strength right now to do genuine damage.

"Why didn't you do anything?!" Cameron yelled out, his voice practically gone at this point. The teacher did nothing but stare down at the pitiful man as he sobbed his eyes out. And despite all this distress, life for the other kids carried on as normal.

He felt as if he were being taunted. Every other parent on this damn playground got to leave it with their child holding their hand as they giggled and told them about their day. They would sleep good tonight, knowing that their child were safely in the house.

Not Cameron. Tonight he wouldn't sleep. Nor tomorrow. Or the day after. All that awaited him now was a long period of sleepless nights as he sobbed into his pillow, holding it tightly as he could. He would tuck in some of his sons stuffed animals and read them bedtime stories to cope, whilst these parents he watched walk away would get to tuck in their real kids and watch real reactions come from them.

This wasn't fair.

But God was it a beautiful day for everybody else.
