Create an issue that faces our character in real life or in that universe. Things you should include in the beginning of your arc ;

Establish relationships that the character have

Note how the issue affected the character

Introduce your character from both 3rd person pov and first pov to show your character nature

Form a correlation of the kinship between the fictional world and the character ; ( protagonist is hungry for power , turns to royalty in fictional world )

If the character is solving a hero or is saving something make sure to use a hero's journey as a guide or a checklist

Have a reference picture to describe your settings and attires , if you have multi-themes ( such as steam punk in victorian era ) create a vision board or use photoshop ( Extra tip ; use pics art it is an easy and free video and photo editor app available on phones and laptops). To visualize it and describe it in detail for your audience.
( Make sure to get a outsider point of view to check if it executed probably )

Have an objective the character to achieve ( trying to leave that world , guaranteed safety , fix the world problem)

Show the contrast the character real life and the new world and the difference perspective / change / success

Reference the character skills that they gained from the real world and how they used them in unfamiliar situations ( can do quick math , solves puzzles )

Develop side characters that are different from our character in what aspects due to being from a different world ( lives in space , Aren't able to hear )
