Ch. 2

"Hey Payton.." she cried into the phone.

"Maddy." A sigh of relief could be heard from his end of the phone.

For a moment she just listened to his even breaths on the other end of the line, she finally inhaled and a sob ran long from her lips.

"Please don't cry, Maddy.." Payton's voice cracked slightly as he spoke to her. As he said that the tears spilled over the brim of her eyes and he sobbed into the microphone of her phone Nate had bought for her.

"Can you come here? Like now Payton?" she asked in between sobs. She heard his bed squeak slightly as he stood from it and a sudden click as the call ended. She took her phone from her ear and sobbed. She began to think he hated her so much he wouldn't even come to see or talk to her. But her phone lit up with a text.

"Be there soon."

She smiled at the phone as hot tears ran down her face. She slightly bit her lip remembering the last time she saw him she remembered the way he cried and begged. She couldn't imagine seeing his brown eyes again or his pale skin. She wondered if his body was the same or if he still had the scar on his knee he got when he fell while he tried to learn to skate since Maddy loved it.

She waited ten minutes for a text or a call from him. Soon enough she heard a knock at her window. She ran over and opened it. And there he was, the dark eyes she loved. He bit his lip nervously as she stepped back to let him in the room. He stepped in quietly and Maddy's eyes ran over him over and over again to make sure this was real and she was not dreaming of his existence. He stood up slowly and made eye contact with her.

She sucked in a breath and wrapped her small arms around his waist. He sighed and hugged her shoulders tightly. She took in his smell as if it was the last time she'd see him. He kissed the top of her head and she melted into his chest.

"I missed you," Maddy said softly almost too softly to even be heard.

"I think I missed you more Maddy." he chuckled slightly and grinned his crooked grin.

She moved so she could look up at him, she only now realized he was in PJs which made her laugh. He must have walked all the way here in stupid ducky PJs.

"What?" he asked still grinning at her.

"The Ducky PJs." she now laughed loudly and Payton laid a hand on her mouth.

"Shhh~ do you wanna wake your mom up?" he asked as she shook her head no.

She looked at his eyes once more and felt at home in them. Though her puffy eyes were tired she let out a small yawn when his hand was removed from her mouth. He let her boys go and she frowned.

"What?" she asked him.

"You tired Maddy, go to sleep," he said as he tucked a piece of stray black hair behind her ear.

"Okay okay." she put her hands up in defense and walked slowly to her bed. Payton turned from her and to the window. She whined in protest as he tried to leave.

"Fine Maddy I'll stay." he groaned slightly as he turned to face her again slipping off his old hey dudes.

He walked slowly over to her bed and pulled back the covers and slid in with ease. Maddy instantly laid her head on his chest and sighed.

"I don't know what to do," she said softly.

"What do you mean?" he asked her as he played with her hair softly.

"With Nate... I want to hurt him. He's been calling and texting nonstop begging for a second chance." she let out a sigh.

"Will you give him one?" he asked again. Maddy paused for a minute and Payton knew he has his answer. "Maddy you can be serious." he slightly pushed her off and sat up. She sat up with him her eyes started to water again.

"What going on I'm so confused," Maddy mumbled out.

"Maddy you're not blind! You want him to hurt so you get back with him? Smart fucking plan!" he yelled.

"Shhh! I know it's dumb okay but I don't know what to do or what I'm doing!" she sobbed.

"Then make a better damn plan Maddy." he groaned.

"Like what huh? You don't seem to be helping!" she flopped back on her bed.

"Maybe date someone he hates or something." Payton shrugged.

"Wait someone he hates... someone he hates... Oh my gosh! Payton, will you go out with me?"
