Maplekit listened in awe as Ivypool told her and her kin about Mapleshadow. Her mother was an amazing warrior. She looked around at her denmates. Her cousins and sister were eagerly listening to the elder's stories. Maplekit felt something brush past her ear, but when she looked around, she didn't see anyone near her.
"Maplekit!" Maplekit jolted out of her confusion to Wisteriakit talking to her. "Maplekit! We're going to play hide n seek! Want to come?" Maplekit shook her head. She wanted to keep hearing stories. "Aww! Come on! It'll be really fun!" "Yeah! Stop sulking in the elders' den!" Said her sister. Gemkit pounced on Maplekit's tail and she batted her away.
"No thanks." She said. "Awwww" said Wisteriakit. "Your no fun." Said Gemkit. They ran off and Maplekit saw that there was still one kit left in the elders' den. It was Bristlekit. Maplekit walked over to her and sat down. "So... do you think the elders could give us another story?" She asked.
Brsitlekit shook her head. "I don't think so. I just stayed because... well, I know this sounds weird, but I heard a cats voice in my head. I think." She said. Maplekit shivered. "I felt something, and I swear it felt like a pelt, brush past my ear, but no one was there." Bristlekit nodded.
Maplekit.
Maplekit jumped at the voice. It sounded right next to her.
'Who are you?' She asked.
That's not important, what is important is you need to go find your den mates right now. They are in danger and you need to get someone to help.
Maplekit was terrified. She looked over at Bristlekit. "Did you hear that to?" She asked. Bristlekit nodded. "I don't think we heard the same voice, but I definitely heard it. Lets go!" They shot out of the elders' den to go look for their den mates.
They spent awhile searching camp. They found a scent by the dirt place. They crept in and found a hole that the other kits must have squeezed through. They crawled through the tight space and started tracking down their siblings. All the while the voice in Maplekit's head kept giving advise. Eventually they found them, stuck at the bottom of a ditch.
"Maplekit! Bristlekit! Thank StarClan! Get us out of here!" Yelled Quailkit from down below. "We will!" Bristlekit yelled back. The gray tabby turned to Maplekit and said in a whisper. "We need to get some warriors to help! The voice in my head told me that there should be a hunting patrol nearby."
They started looking for the party and soon found them. "Help!" Maplekit cried. "Wisteriakit, Thunderkit, Gemkit, and Quailkit are stuck in a ditch!" She ran up to the warriors. They looked at her in surprise.
"Maplekit! Bristlekit! You know your not allowed out of camp!" Said one of the toms, who Maplekit now recognized as Duskfall. Nightwhisper padded up behind him and Breezesong followed.
Maplekit looked down at her paws in shame. "I know, but this... thing told us our littermates were in danger, so we followed their sent and it led us to this ditch! Their stuck!" Duskfall sighed. "Alright then, but you know that you will be in trouble when we get back to camp." They nodded and showed the patrol the way to the other kits.
When Duskfall, Nightwhisper, and Breezesong had gotten all of them out they went back to camp. Crystalblaze ran up to them when they entered and started scolding them. "What we're you thinking! Going outside of camp? You could have been killed!" She yelled. Dustfeather came up behind their aunt.
"Crystalblaze is right. You know that's not allowed." All the kits lowered their heads in shame. "Now," said Crystalblaze "Are any of you hurt?" They all shook their heads. "Good, what did you do out there?" She asked. "We might have fell into a hole..." murmured Thunderkit.
Maplekit sat in her nest. She was bored. They had been confined to the nursery.

'Who are you? I keep hearing you in my mind.'

The voice started singing and Maplekit hummed along

Maplekit smiled. She was starting to like the voice.
'What can I call you?'
Hmmm you may call me Maple. That should make it easier.
'Why are you here? Are you a StarClan cat?'

Maplekit fell asleep that night, humming the song that Maple had sung to her.
