After a long day's work, the sun indulges for a moment, to watch the moon dance across the sky. Tamaki's hair wisps in the breeze as he blankets the sky with darkness and diamond stars, bringing the mystery of dreams and peace to those who sleep. Mirio glances in awe at the serene man, longing to be his. Mirio created the sunset because of this longing, the sun staying a little longer just to gawk at the intimidating moon.

Tamaki was beautiful, his hair was a silky midnight indigo and his skin was moon pale, with pointed ears. His eyes were shinier than any diamond and sparkled like the stars. Mirio could get lost in Tamaki's eyes, for they entranced him.

As the moon finishes his ride across the world, he slows down in hopes of basking in the warmth the roaring sun unfurls. His heart swells as the sun passes him, Mirio's flashy chariot and blazing hair flying in the wind, makes Tamaki swoon. His hair is like a regal lion's mane and eyes shine with gentleness like a blazing hearth. Tamaki's awe created the sunrise, as night stayed put at the ends of the earth, just to feel the warmth and good tidings day brings.

One could argue, "why would the moon fall in love with the sun?" It seems unlikely that any good could come out of any affair the two opposites would engage in. So Tamaki hid in the darkness, in the silence, his heart melting as he watched Mirio from afar each and every day. He was content with continuing this seemingly endless cycle, watching from afar, and dreaming.

The sun is naturally bold, seeing as he rides his flamboyant chariot as he wears a blinding smile on his face. Unlike night, the sun could hold a reputation for a charismatic personality and swelling with abundant love. The moon seems too cold and alone up in the night sky, and is never thought of as being capable of feeling anything towards another. Rather the moon lives in a desolate place, consumed by darkness and never welcome to company. It's too out of touch with humanity's natural instinct to feel safe in the light.

Tamaki prefers the night as it is quiet, and more often than not, people do not bother him. The moon was shy and aloof, finding the company of the other gods rather boisterous and draining, with their loud boasts of their offerings or the blaring parties they host.

Mirio is cheerful and lights up the halls of Karatos with a familiar and welcoming warmth. He is the perfect fit for the daytime, filling his heart and others hearts with the joy and opportunity the sun gives.

The sun's vibrant appearance and the moon's reserved appearance is what oddly brought them together. They were two halves of a whole after all. It can get lonely, driving their chariots across the sky for an eternity; so why not find solace in each other's company?

It started with a dance. Following Ajiki, Mirio sought out Tamaki, who lay stretched out by a silver pool of dreams, his tunic draping and flowing over his body, his shoulders peeking deliciously out. Mirio was bewitched as he stood frozen admiring the elegant man before him. The room was filled with Mirio's radiance as he made his way to Tamaki, who was still sprawled out.

"Dance with me." Mirio had said. It was not a question nor a demand.

Tamaki gracefully grasped the extended hand and was swept off his feet into the secure hold of Mirio. Intertwined, they danced across the eternal sky, united and smitten by each other. A chorus of stars and wind conducted a symphony so bold and emotional it kept the two gods dancing till the following day, entranced by each other to stop. A once eerie darkness lit only by stars and hopeful dreams was now lit up by swirls of rosy fire, lighting a stage for the gods. Tamaki and Mirio could only hear the beating of each other's exalting hearts getting louder and louder and only saw hunger in each other's eyes. A hunger that was finally quenched. They were no longer alone and left to their respective tasks. They were joined together in this moment, bonded.

Their fate was sealed that night. Mirio dreamt of the silkiness of Tamaki's skin and the life his eyes shone. Tamaki desired to feel secure in the sun's arms again. To be wrapped in a blanket of never ending warmth. They craved each other.

Gods do not have souls, but they do have hearts. And the hearts of the sun and moon craved each other. Tamaki would hunt to the edge of the known world to feel Mirio once more, and Mirio would raise his heart higher than the sky to express his adoration to Tamaki.

They say that the gods do not know love. That if they claim to love you, it is nothing but a lie. But some say that the eternal life of the gods has given them the time to choose to learn about love. To choose to find it and live by it. Tamaki and Mirio chose love. They chose to nurture it, protect it, and live by it. They swore it would be forever and no one could tear them apart.

But there are gods and people alike who hate love. Cannot fathom it or touch it. They will deny its existence and reality until the love has been crushed from the hearts of lovers. Endeavor relishes in watching love crumble and fall as lovers stop fighting. Love isn't worth anything to him. If he doesn't agree to a partner's love, it shall never be, and the lovers are forced into hiding. Forced to love from a distance, or for Mirio and Tamaki, to love each other in secret out of the eyes of the gods.

Mirio and Tamaki would meet in secret, in hidden caverns in Tamaki's court, or shield themselves under the weeping trees in Mirio's court gardens.

Tamaki's court was dim and cold. Echoey halls of obsidian with floors lined with ocean blue rugs, and diamonds shimmered from the various decor that hung from the walls. Tables were modest and decorated with painted vases of Night Plox and Tuberose. There were no doors, just Rohoman Forget Me Not flowers and Wisteria that hung from the door frames of the empty rooms.

The cavern in the court had swooping vines of glowing wisteria that clung to the walls. The rock walls were carved into mini rooms where statues were placed and in the center of the cavern lay a magnificent obsidian bed with a mattress of clouds, plush and soft goose feather pillows, and regal drapes of silver satin with embroidered constellations. Tamaki and Mirio would spend more of their intimate time here, but sometimes they would sink into the bed and hold each other in their own little pocket of peace.

Mirio's court was vibrant and full of life. Open halls adorned with paintings and carvings of humanity and the gods, with vast open windows to let the breeze inside. Flowers and plants covered the grounds and gardens with acres upon acres for horse riding. Each door was themed with a different carving of nature or glorious event, and each room had a different shaped and sized fireplace.

When Tamaki would visit, the pair would often spend their time walking in the gardens, admiring the scenery and enjoying a picnic. Sometimes if Tamaki could muster up the courage, he would go riding with Mirio on the massive fiery steeds. More often than not, the two would stay cooped up in Mirio's room with a crackling hearth and the sound of either their heart beats or laughter.

It was in these moments that Mirio and Tamaki could show their love for one another, while still staying safe from Endeavor's hateful eyes. Sometimes, if they felt daring, Mirio and Tamaki would mingle in the halls of Karatos' palace, or even in the mortal world, hidden amongst the reeds of a pond or in the shadows of giant oak trees.

Mirio and Tamaki loved each other. For centuries they hid their love, until one fateful day. That fateful day would alter the relationship between the gods and humanity. From that day rage strengthened by love was born and a friend was made. But most importantly, the gods of Karatos were tested. Who on Karatos was capable of love? Which gods wanted to nurture love? And what gods despised love all together?"
