He and Calypso had been flying for at least a day when they landed in a large bamboo clearing to repair Festus. The dragon creaked and stumbled as he landed but managed to stay upright.
Leo detached Calypso from her sleeping position against his back and slid off his bronze steed with a groan. Festus turned his head and creaked as he inspected his passengers.
"We're alright, buddy," Leo insisted as Festus rubbed his big head all over Leo. "Thanks. Now let's get you up and rolling again." Festus seemed to like this idea.
He didn't think he could fix the partially fused neck playing at the moment, but fortunately, it didn't seem to bother the dragon. He, apparently, was too excited to be in his original form to be too concerned.
Leo fixed the left medius membrane with magic duct tape. His favorite kind of tape even without the magic. He heard a sigh and looked up to catch Calypso leaning back on her hands and watching him.
He raised an eyebrow,"You enjoying the view, Sunshine?" She blushed and had a sudden interest in the nearest stalk of bamboo. Oh yeah, she likes the Commander Tool Belt, thought Leo.
He grinned and set to to fixing Festus' broken front left leg. This would be a cinch. All one would have to do is roll a full sized, fire breathing dragon over on its side and ZIP ZIP BANG JOW JOW. One perfectly functional dragon ready to fly anywhere.
I'm the first couple of hours of flying from Ogygia, he and Calypso had decided that they would go to Camp Half-Blood for a couple days or however long they felt like and then go to Camp Jupiter, California for a one-day pit stop, then Bora Bora for four days, then to London and back to Camp Half-Blood to seal off the trip.
As soon as he had fixed Festus' leg, he set up a fire (fire wasn't that hard to start consider he could put himself on fire) and put a grill over it to make Tofu Tacos.
He walked over with them on paper plates to where Calypso sat watching him, leaning against a sleeping Festus with a slight smile on her face. This caused him to grin as well. "What is it?" He asked. "Is there something on my face?"
She giggled and shook her head. She was so cute when she giggled. "No. It's just that I have dreamed of getting off that accursed island for so long that now that it's happened I just can't believe it," she said with a far off look.
"Oh, I thought you were just entranced by my hotness," Leo said still grinning as he sat down and handed Calypso her tofu taco. She took it gladly and giggled.
"That too," she replied, rolling her eyes. She finished her taco and put her head on Leo's shoulder. "I love you."
Those three words almost made Leo choke on his taco. He hesitated for once. "I love you too, Sunshine."and with that, they fell asleep together under the stars.
The next day, they packed up what little they had actually gotten out and got back onto Festus and set off towards Camp Half-Blood.
The dragon seemed to know the way on his own without much help. They had to stop a couple of times to use the bathroom or eat but they made it to the shore of the Camp in three days at top speed.
They landed easily on the beach and made their way through the forest. Apparently, some of the wood nymphs had seen the giant bronze dragon flying through the air while on their morning stroll.
Together, Calypso, Leo, and Festus made their way towards the Big House. Chiron was already on the porch staring in disbelief. He started talking about wars and how he couldn't believe it, but Leo got bored so he excused himself to surprise his friends. "Of course..." said Chiron in a far off voice.
Calypso decided she would stay with Chiron to discuss where she would be staying.
He strolled down the hill with his hands in his pockets. It was about 4:00 in the morning so not many people were awake but those who were awake were either staring at him or at Festus who was sitting outside the Big House.
Apparently, he had been "dead" for about two weeks. He met Will Solace and Nico jogging particularly close together toward him.
"Dude!" Nico said. "How are you alive?"
His tone was questioning but hopeful. Leo grinned, "My absolute awesomeness kept me alive, man!" They all laughed.
"Now, I'm going to go see my friends," he said. He lady them behind laughing and clapping his back.
