It's been about two weeks since I "died" as some people put it. The serum didn't work so they mad me a Factionless and just change my hair color. I must say, I kind of work as a blonde. I don't like it though, it feels weird. I'm still the same Dawn I was before; I'm just Factionless and I have to hide my tattoos. "Dawn, come here." I hear my friend, Dusk (picture on the side) say.
"Yeah?" I answer, walking over to him.
"Look at what's happening at the Abnegation compound." He says, pointing to the one TV in our compound.
"What the hell? That's people from Dauntless." I say, looking at the soldiers that are shooting the members of Abnegation.
"What's going on? I thought you said that a lot of Dauntless were nice?"
"They are, I don't know what's happening." I say, just staring at the screen in horror.
"DAWN!!!" I hear Evelyn; our leader yell.
"Shit, what'd you do this time?" Dusk asks.
"Nothing that I know of." I say, walking over to her. "I don't know what I did but I'm so sorr-"
"Shut up child. I'm sending you on a mission."
"What kind of mission?" I ask, raising my eyebrow. She sends me on missions because she can trust me to do what I'm told.
"A mission to Amity. We need allies now that a war has started with Erudite. I'm sending you to make friends with people from Amity and help people who show up there." She says, putting her hands on my shoulders. "I'll give you some of out extra weapons to help you. I know you can use them, you can take Dusk if you want."
"Ok, when do I leave?"
"Now." She says, handing me a gun and two knives. "You take care of my boy now." She says, pulling Dusk into a hug and handing him a gun. "I trust you will learn from Dawn. Now go, you need to catch a train." She says, pushing us out of our hideout and sending us on our way.
"Ok, how do I use this?' Dusk asks, looking at the gun and examining it. I look around to make sure no one is around.
"Like this." I say, checking the chamber to make sure there was a bullet, pointing at the sky, and pulling the trigger.
"Cool, where'd you learn that?" He asks, as we start to run toward the trains.
"My training, I got close to finishing." I say, sliding the gun into my belt. I notice Dusk slowing down. "Come on kid. Keep up." I laugh.
"I'm trying, you just run really fast." He says, as we get to the trains. We wait for a train and take a run and jump getting in a car. I jump in but I land on a large, muscular object.
"Woah! Dusk have you been working out?" I laugh, as the person picks me up by the arms and stands me up. I look up and jump back in shock. "Tobias?" I say, tilting my head.
"Dawn? Is that you?" He asks, touching my hair.
"The one and only." I say, pulling him into a hug. He quickly hugs back.
"I thought you were dead. I saw your body at the bottom of the chasm." He says pulling away and grabbing my shoulders. "What happened?"
"Jeanine tried to kill me with a serum, but it didn't work so they put me in as a Factionless." I shrug.
"I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about your hair. Why is it blonde?" He says examining my hair.
"To disguise me." I say, swatting his hands away from my hair.
"It looks good on you." He says. "Who's this?" He asks, looking toward Dusk.
"He's my friend." I say, putting my arm around Dusk's shoulders. "I have a question now. What happened in Abnegation?"
"The Erudite put the Dauntless under a serum. It gave them the power to control them, but it didn't work on Divergents." Tris says, from beside Tobias.
"Hey, Tris. So what happened to Marcus?"
"I'm right here Dear." I hear, someone say, hugging me from behind. I push him away and pull my knife out.
"Back off." I say, standing my ground.
"Calm down. I'm not going to hurt you." He says, putting his hands up in surrender.
"Does it look like I give a shit? No. Just don't touch me and you can keep your hands." I say, putting my knife up.
"Somebody became hard as a rock in two weeks." Tobias laughs.
"I had to. It's hard living as a Factionless. But anyway, how's Uriah?" I ask. I really do miss him, he was my first boyfriend, kiss, and everything.
"I haven't seen him since they put everyone under the serum. Sorry." Tobias says. I feel a tear escape, but I quickly stopped it. Tobias notices it though and pulls me into a hug. "I really am sorry, I know you loved him." He says, kissing my forehead. I just nod my head and turn around, noticing Caleb.
"Hey Dawn." He says, waving.
"Don't 'hey' me. You're a backstabbing asswhole." I say, sitting down next to Dusk.
"Woah! What happened here?" Tris asks, looking back and forth from us.
"I kind of helped Jeanine with "killing" her." Caleb says.
"YOU WHAT?!?!" Tobias yells, pinning Caleb against the car wall. Tris rushes to help her brother.
"I got this." I say, walking over to Tobais and pressure pointing him. He yells and falls to the ground. "Don't, that's my fight not yours." I say, letting go. He nods his head and walks over to Tris.
"So, what are you doing on the trains?" Marcus asks.
"We're going to the Amity compound." Dusk answers.
"We are too." Tris says, sitting down with Tobias. We all sit around talking and then I soon fall asleep.
