Chapter 9

" Can I wear the clothes that I'm wearing to the party?" I whined at Candice. I usually hate whiners, but the situation just forced my hands. She wanted me to change into another outfit because' It's unfashionable to show up at a high class party with clothes you just wore'. And apparently, it doesn't matter what my opinion of it is.

" Are you starting to regret sticking your nose into this?" dad smirked at me.

" Seriously, why can't you guys just be normal parents and ground me instead of forcing me to go to a party?!? What kind of parents does that?" I threw my hands up in the air. Sometimes, saying 'ayo'. Gotta let go. What? It's a catchy song.

" The kind that are spies with spy kids. Duh," mom rolled her eyes.

" Focuse! We have a lot of work to do in two hours." Candise snapped her fingers." What do you think he would like best? Innocent? Sexy? Somewhere in between? Bad girl or good girl?"

" I'm not sure. He's an obvious player. He's used to sexy. So we either do innocent small town girl or turn Zoey sexier than anything he's seen." I cannot and will not believe that my own father is discussing this subject with Candise.

" I don't think he will fall for the damsel in distress type," Not my own mother!" what about exuberant, hyper, and happy?"

" We are going no where," Phillip groaned while he bounced on MY bed. I threw a comb at his face just as he was doing a back flip. Dang it! He caught the comb. He smirked in his small victory and waved it teasingly. I was going to go over there and show him what a victory look like, but Candise gave me a stern glare that glued me to my seat. I settled for a cold shoulder.

" Do you think he'll like the quiet, moody type?" Candise had her chin in her hand. She looked like a dork stroking her invisible beard.

" We don't have enough background info to judge the guy. Let's not stereotype him, ok? If you really want to, me and Phillip can scope him out and hang out with him for an hour or so. We'll tell you what he's like, but I doubt he'll act the same way in private and in public." Sam gave us his words of wisdom.

" Or you can dress me in some neutral clothes and I'll wing it when I get to know him." I offered my ideas.

" I don't know. People's feelings are unpredictable. We desperate enough to get any information and you might ruin our chance by winging it the wrong way." Mom doubted me.

" Well, we're just wasting our time sitting here. We have to get to him and find- Why didn't I think about this before? We've been looking for information in all the wrong places! Legal documents, government papers, certificates. Of course he's not going to exist there. Mr. Fonsuare made sure if that because thatwould be the first place we'd look!" I slapped my hands on my forehead. Thank you, Meah. It was too obvious for me to notice, but subtle things are your specialties. Get it? Because you're my subconscience? SUBconscience are the subtle state of mind? No? Nothing?

- Your jokes are so lame. In fact, they're not even jokes!

" Zoey, will you please get to the point?" Candise huffed impatiently.

" Jon's famous, right? We just have to search the media. I agree with Sam that most people are not the Sam in private and in public, but the main traits will show enough or us to make me into his dream match." I heard a choir of Oh's in my head.

" We'll do some research then. Everyone right down their findings and we'll compare notes in 30 minutes. That'll give you enough time to ready Zoey, correct?" Dad asked Candise.

" Sure, but we're cutting it close," Candise clearly showed that she did not like cutting it close.

" I'll help you, sweetheart," Mom assured her.

Everyone settled in their seat to get comfortable to do some research. This is by far the lamest mission in the history of lame missions. I get that everyone need to do their homework before doing field work, but I prefer hacking into someone's computer than search for celebrities gossips.

I don't like celebrities gossip. I also don't like people who read or watch celebrities gossip. Celebrities already have their face shot for some TV show or other. Give them their privacy when their off set. Hello, there's a reason why celebrities wear disguises. Just in case you still don't know, it's because they want to have a private life away from the cameras. Celebrities gossips invade celebrities's privacy and as a teenager, I personally don't like it when someone invade my privacy. Now, I'm one of those people that dig up someone else's personal life. I feel like a stalker.

- You're not a stalker, you're a spy.- Meah comforted me in her smartpants- parents- teaching- their- kids voice.

-- Ok, whatever-- I mentally shooed her away so I can concentrate on reading. I played Ennie Meanie Minnie Mo and picked a random article. It was a tour of Jon's penthouse. I repeat, I feel like a stalker.

- This is so weird. You're not arguing back. Your negative thoughts are depressing me.

-- I am not negative or depressed-- I protested.

- Yes, you are. You're being negative right now!

-- So I'm just supposed to admit that I'm negative and depressed?-- I asked her incredulously.

- There's the argument I was looking for.- Meah shouted excitedly.

-- You like us arguing?

- It gets lonely in here.

-- I am not imagining another voice. One Meah is the quota for Zoey's brain.

- I didn't want you to make me another friend. I was just making conversation.- And Meah's sweet side is gone.

-- You're impossible.

- That's because I know every nook and granny of your mind- If Meah had a face, it would be smug.

-- I think it's nook and nanny. -- I pointed out.

- Whatever. Focuse on your reading.
