The group of crestfallen women and men stared at the once happy face of their fallen comrade. In her casket she looked just like she had when her heart was still thumping, her laugh still ringing, the bullet still flying at her unaware head. She didn't see it. It wasn't meant to happen! The cries and tears of that bloody battle frothed and slithered in each of their heads, replaying the moment the light in the girl's eyes vanished.

" She was always so happy. So alive. " One person whispered, her short, brown curls bouncing as she sobbed. She was named Kaylina, and was best friends with the fallen girl.

" She... She had hopes of being an author. Maybe a YouTuber. She had dreams. Aspirations. " Another mumbled through tears. She had blonde hair and scary grey eyes, but she always radiated kindness. Donna, was her name.

" She was my cousin. My favorite cousin. " Another said, pain filling every crevice. She had more loose curls, still brown. Her name was Sharidan.

" She was my childhood sweetheart. " A man hissed " I'd looked for her for years! Just to find her dead. " His baby blue eyes were filled with pain. He laced his fingers through his messy blonde hair in agitation. He was Kaden.

A final man walked up to the corpse in the casket, a single pure white rose in his wrinkled hand. He set it on her chest, right above her heart.

" You were my only friend. " He whispered before disappearing into the very air.

Who he was?

The very man she had met days before.

The very man she gave her life up for.

Elexander Thorne.

And now, he too was dead.

Kaden, flanked by Donna, Sharidan, and Kaylina, took cautious steps up to the body of their good friend. She looked asleep, her dark blonde hair in a halo around her head, a white sleeping dress as her garb. Even then she had a slight smile on her face. The graveyard workers pushed past and slowly lowered the now-closed casket into the earth. Shovels and shovels of dirt and sand onto the box.

Finally it was done.

She was buried.

And on the headstone?

" For I am not alive when I am breathing
For I am alive only when I have given up my soul.
For all cases of anxiety and nightly terrors
The only thing to make them cease
Not for love and heroes
Not for peace
For the tendrils of death.
When they have taken me "

In each year of the gathered, the words rang like gun shots.

For I am not alive when I am breathing
For I am alive only when I have given up my soul.
For all cases of anxiety and nightly terrors
The only thing to make them cease
Not for love and heroes
Not for peace
For the tendrils of death.
When they have taken me

When they have taken me

" For they have taken me. " Her voice echoed around the tomb. Everyone looked up to see her there, smiling as she had mere days before. She wasn't dead, no gun wound in her cranium.

No, she was alive.

" I am a hero! A yognaut! A demigod! A sapling! A member of many armies! I AM THE INVINCIBLE! I am Foxx, and I will not die untill I say so! "

But alas, it wasnt to be. It faded with the fog, her last words. The very thing she had yelled atop that very hill where she was shot down. The very olace she tumbled down from and never got back up. The very day that the sun lost its glare. The moon lost its luster. That they lost the battle.

For I am not alive when I am breathing
For I am alive only when I have given up my soul.
For all cases of anxiety and nightly terrors
The only thing to make them cease
Not for love and heroes
Not for peace
For the tendrils of death.
When they have taken me

Because they have taken me
They have taken me
Taken me.
