After 15 minutes of Miss Locke introducing herself and laying the ground rules for homeroom the bell finally rang, signalling the 'get to your fucking class no matter the cost' time slot before period 1 starts. I was almost out of the room when Miss Locke called me over to her desk.

"Excuse me Finley? Can I please speak with you for a moment?"

I forced my legs to take me over to her. She was sat at her desk all teacher looking, you know what I'm talking about. She stared at me for a moment, enough to make it awkward before she continued to speak.

"I think we may have gotten off on the wrong foot this morning Finley, I would like to apologise. I shouldn't have been so harsh on the first day of school, I can only blame it on my nervousness of being here for my first day too." I surprised by her words, never once had I considered how a new teacher would feel on their first day in this sea of puberty ridden teenagers.

"Don't worry about it Miss. Charlie and I hadn't seen each other for a while and got a bit over excited. It won't be a habit I promise."

"Well I'm glad we could clear that up. To a good year?" She raised her hand as if toasting a wine glass. No way this teacher is hot and an absolute nerd. Maybe home room won't be so bad.

"To a good year," I bumped my hand against hers with a chuckle.

I didn't move my hand from hers, and neither did she move from mine. We just stared at each other for a moment.

"Tell me Finley, have we met before? Something about you is insanely familiar." She slowly returned her hand to her lap, and I let mine fall to my side.

Ring Ring

The tardy bell broke the tense atmosphere, and I thanked it for giving me an out to answering Miss Locke's question. She clearly couldn't remember my face.

"Well, never mind. You should be getting to class." Dismissively she turned her attention to the paperwork sitting on the desk.

"Yeah I should. Bye Miss." It took all my willpower to walk calmly out her door, as soon as I was out of view I began sprinting to my next class. English. At least I already had detention so being late didn't concern me too much.

I reached the English room and excused myself to Miss Maher as I entered. She gave a forgiving smile as I found my seat. I gave her my full attention for the rest of the lesson, answering her questions to avoid awkward silence in the class. It was the least I could do for being late to her class.

The rest of the period passed like this, and History—my next class— was much the same, though I was much less engaging in that one. I don't much care for the old people that made the world what it is today.

After History I made my way to the common room, a space for year twelves to eat that's equipped with couches and a kitchenette. I picked a couch and plopped down onto it, letting my mind wander. For some reason it decided to think about Miss Locke. Why am I wasting my time thinking about her? Because she's hot? Maybe.

"Hey Finn," Walker slapped my shoulder as he sat down next to me, "a little bird told me you got Miss Locke as your home room teacher. You know, the insanely hot new teacher?"

"Yeah she is," I shoved his hand off my shoulder, "but do you really think it's appropriate to speak about a teacher like that?"

He chuckled in response, "Oh come on Finn, you can appreciate the beauty of women right? Are you saying she isn't hot?"

"Okay calm your tits, yes, she's hot. But she's still a teacher dude come on."

"Pshh whatever you say. She looks straight anyways so I guess you don't need to concern yourself with her." He gave me a devilish smirk, which only made me mad. The fuck does he know, she could 100% be gay.
