Chapter One: Before the Vows

The Moretti mansion was always quiet at this hour, the kind of silence that made people uneasy. To Luna, it was comforting. The faint ticking of the grandfather clock in the hall was the only sound as she pushed open the door to her father's study.

He didn't look up from the file in front of him, the glow of the desk lamp casting sharp shadows across his face. "You're late," he said flatly.

Luna shrugged, leaning against the doorframe. "Traffic."

He glanced at her, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Sit."

She stepped forward, taking the seat across from him. The tension in the room was familiar—this was how most of their conversations started.

He slid a folder across the desk. She flipped it open, her gaze landing on a photograph of a man in his forties, his face partially obscured by shadows.

"Dario Vasquez," her father said, his voice clipped. "He's been feeding intel to the Veronesis. A shipment schedule, our warehouse locations. Tonight, he dies."

Luna studied the photograph, then the attached notes—addresses, routines, associates. Her lips curved into a faint smile. "You want it public or private?"

"Public. A message," he replied, leaning back in his chair. "Let them know what happens when they cross us."

She nodded, snapping the folder shut and rising from her seat.

"Luna."

She paused, one hand on the door.

"When you're done, come straight back. There's something important we need to discuss."

Her brow furrowed, but she didn't ask. He wouldn't tell her now, anyway. "Fine."

Across town, Jeon Jungkook leaned against the edge of a massive oak table, his arms crossed. Taemin stood opposite him, a file clutched in his hands.

"The Morettis agreed," Taemin said, his tone clipped.

Jungkook's lips curved into a faint smirk. "Of course they did. They don't have a choice."

Taemin hesitated, his gaze dropping to the file. "Still, a marriage, Jungkook? There are easier ways to forge alliances."

Jungkook's smirk faded, replaced by a steely glare. "It's not just an alliance. Luna Moretti is her father's most valuable asset. If I control her, I control him. This is about leverage, not love."

Taemin let out a low sigh, tossing the file onto the table. "And what happens when she doesn't bend to your will? From what I've heard, Luna is... difficult."

Jungkook pushed off the table, walking to the window that overlooked the sprawling city below. His voice was low, almost a growl. "She'll learn."

The room fell silent except for the distant hum of the city. Finally, Taemin spoke again. "And what if this alliance backfires?"

Jungkook turned, his dark eyes gleaming. "Then I'll remind her father—and the world—who they're dealing with."

The nightclub pulsed with music and lights, a stark contrast to the cold night outside. Luna stood in the alley behind the building, her black leather jacket blending into the shadows.
