As much as these three may not ring in your head after hearing either one, they are very much so coincidentally related almost on a level that none exists without the other. I will however say that in hindsight, it is a little bit confusing or rather there are inexplicable grounds left to interpretation by mashing them together of which I will explain why I say so.
But first, what is masculine and what makes certain things, actions, people and behaviors masculine? Rather than define it, it’d be better saying what it is and what it isn’t. Masculinity is gentle and warm not cold and rough. It is the epitome of strength and endurance; the ability to withstand. It is humane and protective. It seeks to preserve not to use up. It seeks to uplift and lead not to dominate and suppress. Having stated all these qualities, I believe true masculinity is rarer than jewel. Achieving or attaining this level of it is incredibly easy but difficult as well. But first, how does purpose come into play?

Truth be told since time immemorial, men have always needed some type of conquest; something that gives their life meaning. They had kings who had dreams and visions and further embedded those same dreams and visions into their men who then dedicated their hearts and minds to their lieges’ aspirations in which they derived a sense of meaning and pride from. Loyalty was paramount. It was all noble. Innately, that is our make-up. However, all that that proves is how dedication makes a great part of us. In the sense that it’s not what the dream or aspiration is, but sticking to those same dreams to see them to fruition. Not that conjuring up our own paths to follow is something each of us cannot do but it is all a difference in the way of life, from the days of old and days of now. Men can now live for themselves and forge their own purpose in whichever way, shape or form they deem fit. That is the only difference. That bit of freedom. However, everything else stays the same. Nothing innately changes.

With love however, it provides an anchor for masculinity and purpose. Without it there is no end. Without it none of anything is worthwhile. It could even be said that without it, man is lost. It is needed to help draw the line of what is too much. It humanizes. Without it, man is just but a working machine, to put it crudely. Despite our make-up, we are not built that way. When a man has love, he knows exactly how much of him is required because he is now just no longer living for his purpose and himself but for something or someone else as well. It helps him preserve himself a little bit. That source of love that he has motivates him to go hard at everything he does. It makes him better. That is the power of love. It is his source of strength.

I marvel at the intricate details of how everything’s tied together if everyday life is observed a little keenly, you will see how each of these bring out the best out of each other. Once again the true beauty lies in a deeper peer into self to recognize barriers that may bar whichever of the three from coming out and making man better essentially. Look within and see thy self. Your great great grandfather was probably a better man by metrics. In the now though, you have the knowledge. That makes you more powerful and dangerous. Do with that information what you will, all the best.

                                     Peer within.
