He had finally chosen a name. Hua Cheng. The name was simple, and anyone would think of a kind person. Not a ghost full of resentment fighting to become a ghost king.
He walked down the dark path, a scimitar in hand. E-ming. The scimitar had a red eye at its hilt, it was closed, but opened suddenly and began filling with blood.
Hua Cheng turned around and let E-ming fly off, only to retreat almost instantly. He looked at it and frowned, "What's wrong with you?"
The scimitar only shook as a response.
A soft laugh echoed around the dark arena, "That scimitar sure is strong, I wonder what would have happened if it hadn't recognized me."
Hua Cheng looked up and called out, "Who's there?"
The voice seemed to get closer, "I thought you would know who I am by now. What I didn't think was that you'd try to become a ghost king. You always did say that, didn't you...Hong-er?"
Hua Cheng flinched before regaining his composure, "Who are you talking about?"
The voice laughed yet again, "I never thought my own family would forget about me. It has been a while though, but Hong-er, you always remembered me."
The more the voice spoke, the more Hua Cheng's eye grew dark. The tone of voice seemed familiar.
A figure stepped out of the shadows. It was the figure of a woman. Long, dark hair flowing behind her curved body. She wore an armor, it was black that covered most of her body. What wasn't covered by the armor was covered by a red cloth.
She held a long spear in her right arm and had a small smile on her face. "Hua Chengzhu," she drawled, "pleasure to meet you."
Her eyes shone in the dim lit arena. She had one dark colored eye, and the other was a grey, almost silver, color.
Hua Cheng frowned even more, this woman seemed to know him very well. And she seemed familiar to him too, let alone the fact that she looked a lot like him.
"I will not ask you again, who are you?"
"Fine," the woman rolled her eyes, "you might know me by the name, Xiao Yin."
Hua Cheng seemed to falter his eye widened, "Jie?"
The woman nodded, "Hong-er, it's been a while, hasn't it?"
Hua Cheng's composure fell completely as he dashes towards the woman. She spread her arms out and smiled fondly as the man fell into her embrace.
"Jie...it's really you!" Hua Cheng mumbled into her neck. He was almost a head taller than her, but that didn't stop him from feeling smaller and like a kid again.
"It's me, Hong-er, don't worry anymore, jie is here. Jie will never leave you again," the woman whispered.
The two stood like this for a minute before pulling away.
"My Hong-er has grown up so well," she said sweetly, "so tall and handsome. He even has a spiritual weapon." She turned to the scimitar, "Hello, E-ming."
The scimitar shook in excitement. She chuckled and per it gently.
Hua Cheng wiped the tears off his face and smiled, "He's a little brat, but he's useful."
His sister laughed, "As if you weren't."
"I wasn't that bad," Hua Cheng mumbled.
"Sure you weren't," she teased. "I also heard a few things about you, Hong-er, a few things about a certain crown prince."
Hua Cheng cleared his throat, cheeks red, "I uh..." he couldn't find an excuse for this.
The woman smiled, "I knew it was true, only you would go around flirting." Hua Cheng opened his mouth to speak but was stopped by her, "Don't worry, I had a similar situation like yours. Her name was Lin Xiu."
Hua Cheng could see her face drop in sadness, "Was she also a princess?"
"You could say that," she smiled.
A soft rustle came from the bushes, causing them to both turn in that direction.
"Wang Yu, I never knew you had a brother," a mocking voice said.
The woman, Wang Yu, rolled her eyes, "Xiao Yu-er, what did I say about sneaking up on me?"
A man walked out of the bushes, his hair was in a low ponytail and his strides were short and lazy. He seemed to have a pair of wings on his back and a small horn on his forehead above his brows.
"Wang Yu, how come you never told me about him?" Xiao Yu asked again.
Wang Yu shook her head, "You never asked."
Xiao Yu pouted, "Of course I did, I asked a lot about your family."
"But not about my brother specifically," Wang Yu pointed out.
"Still, you could've mentioned at least that he was the Hua Cheng," Xiao Yu whined. He leaned in more, "You also could've told me he was this good looking."
Hua Cheng raised a brow while his sister laughed, "Xiao Yu-er, didn't you hear anything we said? He already has somebody."
Xiao Yu shrugged, "Can never be too safe."
Wang Yu nodded, "You're right there." She turned to her brother, "Hong-er, I hope you don't mind my assistant. He can be a little overwhelming sometimes."
Hua Cheng nodded, "Just make sure he doesn't interfere with me and Gege."
"Of course," Wang Yu said.
Hua Cheng looked around and saw that there was no one around, "It's too quiet."
"Now that you mention it, it is pretty quiet," Wang Yu said.
"Should I check it out?" Xiao Yu asked.
"No, let them come to us," Hua Cheng said.
The group waited for not even a minute when a group of ghosts ran towards them.
At that moment, E-ming flew forward along with Wang Yu's spear. The two weapons fought with the ghosts while the owners ran forward to fight better.
Xiao Yu threw multiple daggers from his waist and took out a black one to fight head on with them.
Hua Cheng seemed as if he was dancing through the crowd. He stepped lightly and quickly around the ghosts as he attacked.
Wang Yu had a similar formation, except she was more rougher with her movements while Hua Cheng was sharper.
After a few minutes, the ghosts were all gone.
