Distance was kept and she was careful not to get attached to anyone. She learned that connections would lead to heartbreak and kindness was pity. She hid from society, undetected so far, until he saw her drift past him one day. Curious, he reached out and got swept away in the current with her.
No matter how far she drifted downstream he swam alongside with her. He wouldn't let her be. She wasn't sure how to feel towards him- be thankful or show hatred for not letting her go. He promised one day they'd get out of the river before the waterfall but he didn't know that the waterfall was right in front of them.
Instead of desperation, he encouraged the waterfall. They would get through it- together. Nothing could stop them. As they fell down the waterfall, he held her together. With his embrace and fingers laced in hers, she was safe. She wouldn't fall apart, he would make sure of it.
