Chapter 5: The Strong Courageous Orange

Meal time was your favorite time of the day. Not the part where you ate alone in your room, whatever scraps you found, but the part where you got to go outside and find some food for Zomom. Sure he was intimidating at first. I mean he literally threatened to eat you, if you didn't find him food fast enough. But you got to talk to someone, who wasn't nearly as hostile as the other Zeti, though he was definitely the biggest of the bunch. He wasn't really the smartest, but at least you could talk with him about literally whatever and he at least attempted to understand your words. He sure ate a lot, but the longer he ate, the longer you got to stay outside the dusty old base with cold floors and wet corners. It wasn't the most ideal of bases but it was what you had learned to call 'home' for the past months. Besides after you were done with your work, you could simply enjoy the fresh air and sit beside Zomom, watching the sky. Somehow you had gotten yourself a little crush towards the orange giant. He was sweet in a way you couldn't exactly put to words, but he also seemed really easy going, and he had saved your butt from being nearly kicked by Zazz more than once, or he had taken you outside from Zavok's lectures. His stomach clock clearly knew it's time. 

It was much like a normal day to you when it happened, one moment you're chilling on the ground with Zomom, suddenly he takes you to a bear hug. At first you thought you had done something wrong, and that he was going to eat you, but no. It turned out to be a regular old hug. You were confused. ;"Um Master Zomom? What is it?" You had asked him. He scratched his head in confusion. ;"I felt like doing that. Did I do bad?" He asked you, ashamed of his actions. ;"No nonononono. You just took me by surprise, that's all. I wasn't exactly ready for that." You said placing your hand on your chest giving it a few pats.  ;"I Just thought that you're real nice and all.." He told you twiddling his thumbs, avoiding eye contact. Gosh he was adorable big bean. ;"Well I think you're pretty great as well!" You gave him a bright smile, patting his legs. The two of you looked at each other in the eyes, however this moment was soon ruined. By a rapid fire coming from above. ;"Oh heck! What is this?!" You yelled, trying to find a place to take cover. You found a big boulder which you could use as a shield, but Zomom was a different case. He was too big to fit behind it! What you didn't know about him, was that he was apparently strong enough to EAT the laser beam like bullets. 'Just what is his stomach made of?' You thought. He then took the boulder you were hiding behind and tossed it at the Buzz Bombers, who were shooting at him. ;"Leave Bugs!" He yelled at them. Soon enough small motobugs appeared, driving towards you and him. You had no weapon, so your best chance would've been to jump over one of them and make it drive at the others self destructing, your planning was unfortunately stopped, by a pair of mechanical hands grabbing you. ;"Hey- What!?" You yelped in surprise. You were lifted off of the ground. ;"Y/N!" Zomom cried out. ;"I'm sorry to interrupt, but Dr.Eggman REALLY wants to see you, and we wouldn't want to keep him waiting now would we?" Starline said, controlling the Mecha you were taken by. ;"What makes you think he always gets what he wants?! I ain't going with you!" You argued squirming the best you could, despite it having no effect. ;"I do not mess up when it comes to helping the Doctor, in other words, you're coming with me whether you like it or not." He said, running his fingers through his hair, clearly all smug about it. ;"Zomom! Is there anything you can do to stop this guy??" You cried out. Zomom quickly looked around, only seeing more and more badniks. Then he got an idea. He took one of them, tossing it toward Starline's mecha. Then another, and another, aiming for the arms he threw then one after another. ;"Hey- Would you- QUIT IT?!" Starline yelled annoyed at the bumps and hits taken. "You're going to break a precious machine to the Eggman Empire!" He said, starting a rocket launcher built in to it, sending it towards Zomom, who caught the said rocket, throwing it away, a big explosion happening after. 'Now that would have been so cool if I wasn't currently in a predicament of my own' You thought looking at the scene. ;"Let Y/N go you duck!" Zomom yelled tossing another badnik at him, hitting the mark. ;"I'm not going to- I'M A PLATYPUS YOU SIMPELTON!" He angrily growled at him. The mecha had taken far too many hits, it started it's descend towards the ground. Starline quickly pressed a button, a hovercraft appearing soon after. ;"This is not the end!" Starline stated, barely having enough time to avoid yet another badnik. ;"Aww.. there's no more." Zomom said disappontedly. Starline retreated with the remaining Buzz Bombers, try leave and try again another day with reinforcements. You were currently in a free fall, but it was stopped by something soft. And big. It was Zomom who had caught a you mid air. ;Thanks for the save Zom-Zom." You said, giving a small peck on his cheek. He turned as red as a tomato. ;"You're welcome..." He said. You two stayed like that for a moment. Him carrying you back towards the base. When there was a rumble. ;"What was THAT??" You thought out loud. Zomom looked down embarrassed. ;"Y/N, I'm hungry again.." He told you. You laughed at this. ;"Okay then, let's find you something to eat then." You told him, giving a thumbs up. This made him smile widely.
