"Shit!"
Why? Why does the heaven has to decide to pour down tons of rain right now?
I'm on my way back home from my shift in a coffee shop. My boss is an idiot and I had to work two hours longer today. I missed the bus and decided to walk home since the weather was quite nice. I mean, it's may. The weather has to be good, right?Obviously no.
Now the heavy raindrops start soaking my sweatshirt, while I run to the next from rain protected spot around me - a bus stop.
Slightly panting, I mumble curses to the sky. Why today, huh? I decide to wait here until the rain stops or the bus arrives. Depends on what will happen earlier.Theres only one other person waiting at the bus stop with me. A boy of my age I guess, with dark blue hair and a pastel purple hoodie.
We both just stand there quietly and wait, me still cursing the weather in my mind."So you don't like the rain?"
Startled I look over to the guy. He leans against the bus stop wall, his hands in the pocket of his hoodie, head slightly tilted.
"Don't look so confused. You cursed at the clouds for five minutes straight." He smiles at me.
"Well, you're right, I don't like it. I just want to go home, this day already coated enough nerves without this shitty weather.""Oh."
"Yes."
After some seconds of silence, where you only hear the traffic and the rain, the boy seeks again. "Do you know when the bus arrives?"
I look at the plan.
"Oh hell, no", I sight. "In thirty-six minutes."
"Since you have thirty-six minutes left to wait, can i show you something?"Show me something? What sounds weirder than a random guy on a bus stop wanting to show you something? Not much. But -
the blue haired boys eyes sparkle, the smile on his face is so pure, so maybe-" What? ", I ask hesitantly.
"Come with me. I'll show you how beautiful spring rain is."Beautiful. His face? Definitely. The weather? Definitely not.
"Why should I do that? I don't even know you! What if you kidnap me?"
He chuckles. "I get that. But don't you think I would've choosen another setting than 3pm on a Tuesday in the middle of a big city to kidnap someone? I'm just a twenty year old art student, nothing to worry about."To be honest, this guy spreads as dangerous vibes as a bunny. He's also a year younger than me.
Somehow I feel like I've seen his face before, but I don't remember when or where. But for sure, he'll not kidnap me or anything. I trust my guts. The boy still looks at me, his eyes shining brighter that the (at the moment not visible) sun.
"But we'll get all wet!"
He shrugs. "So? I don't care. The feeling is worth it, believe me."
Still smiling he steps out in the rain and holds out his hand. Waterdrops start dripping down from his dark blue hair strands, his wide smile finally convinces me to take his hand. Huh, it's warm? Because of the rain I thought it must be cold, but now I feel the warmth of his skin warming my own hand. His smile gets even wider, I didn't know that that was possible, and he pulls me out in the rain, away from the protecting roof. The raindrops hit my hair, my face, my shoulders. The boy still holds my hand and starts running. We cross the street and run through a small park. Next to a pond he stops.
"Look", he points on the water, thousands of small rings build there, where the raindrops hit the surface.
"So beautiful", I whisper, staring on the water like I'm hypnosed. I don't know what the boy does to me, but my anger just disappeared. Somehow he calms me down.
Again he smiles at me. "Isn't it? But look closer."
He pulls me closer to the pond and now I can see it. Small fishes. Their scales shine through the turbulent water in different shades of red, orange and white. Close under the surface they make their way through the pond, here and there I can see their tiny mouths snatch at the falling waterdrops, as if they're tasty fishfood. Fascinated I watch the spectacle, so inconspicuous but yet beautiful.
I can feel the boys gaze, so I look back at him, now it's me smiling.
"Thank you for showing me."
He slightly squeezes my hand.
We still hold hands? I didn't realize. Looking down at out intertwined fingers and back at his amazing smile I feel heat making its way on my cheeks. But I don't let go of his hand. I know it sounds weird, but it feels just right to hold it."Come."
Again he pulls me with him and I can't do anything but follow his fast foot steps. The rain already drenched my sweatshirt, my hair and my shoes. But I don't care anymore. I don't know how, but the bright aura of this boy makes me forget about the cold that comes with the water on my skin.
No, I don't feel cold. I feel free.
I feel alive. He stops in front of a small white, wooden pavilion on a meadow. A big old oak spreads her limbs over the pavillions roof, protecting it from the heavy may rain. Only a few drops find their way through the green leafs and drop with loud "tock" on the wooden roof. The whole scene gives me peace. It has something... magical.
"You wanna dance?"
I laugh. "But we don't have any music to dance to."
"Just listen carefully."
And so I do.
There's the sound of the raindrops falling on the pavilion.
There's the sound of whispering leafs, when a spring breeze makes its way through the trees.
I can hear the traffic, but it's far away, just a background noice.
But there's something else. A quiet jingle. I look around to find out what produces this tender melody.
As if the sun knows what I'm looking for, she peeks out behind the dark shades of gray, to send her warm rays through the rain down to us. In the limbs of the oak something shiny reflects the light.
"Wind chimes?" I can see a hand full of them glowing in the sunlight, moving with the wind."So, you want to dance?", he asks me again.
My body reacts by itself and seconds later I find myself in the boys arms, feeling the heat and the safety his body radiates, sway to the melodies above us.
Raindrops keep falling down from the sky, but it gets less with each minute. The blue haired boy whirls me around and his sparkling eyes, his bright smile and the feeling of being alive make me letting out a heartily laugher.
It feels like like my soul was woken up by this guy, like I am feeling the world in a whole new way. The spring breeze in my wet hair, the raindrops on my warm skin, the grass under my very drenched converse. My heart is full of happiness in this moment, and when the boy whirls me back into his arms, when I slightly bump into his wide chest, when his cheerful gaze collides with mine, I feel how my heart melts.
We're both still smiling, our faces only inches away from each other. Feeling his warm breathes on my lips, I look into his incredibly deep eyes. They hold a whole different universe in them, ready to get explored, ready to enchant me. I swear, if I wouldn't have him here, right in front of me, I would think he's a fairy, fallen out of a magical story a very talented writer has written.
Suddenly his gaze drifts away, to something above my head. I turn my head in the same direction, only to see my first rainbow of this year. This moment is way too beautiful to be real.
Isn't it?
I feel the boys gaze on my face while I still watch the colors in the sky. Turning my head back to him, our faces nearly touch. Again. His eyes glow in the most vivid way I've ever seen.
"That's a sign, right?" And that's it for me, I can't hold myself back anymore. When our lips finally connect, I decide that I don't need anything anymore that the world around me could give to me. This boys soft lips are all I need. They give me everything.
The taste of spring, the feeling of warm sunrays peeking through the clouds. His lips make my stomach tingle like the melody of the wind chimes, make me want to dance in the rain forever with him.I feel the boy smiling into the kiss before pulling away.
I let out the breath I held - I did? - and I can feel the stupid grin on my face. If there is the slightest chance, I want this spring fairy stay in my life forever."Hi. I'm y/n."
"Nice to meet you, y/n. I'm Jeongin."
