Finding the no life king

Part 4

It has been two days since I had my date with Alucard and my head aces haven't come back since then. It was a good sign but it made me worry a little as to why I had gotten one in the first place. I don't have to worry about anyone coming to see me tonight because Uncle had narrowed down the men and I was shocked when Alucard had made it throw his selection process. My uncle incised on talking to each man with my cousins until they could narrow it down to the best two options. I give a sigh as I sit in my room after dinner waiting for Alucard to show up to help me train like he had every night. He hadn't really said anything about the night my head hurt but I think he already knew about it because he always made sure I was alright. "Pure little light your uncle is such a hard man to please." Alucard grumbles as he walks into the room and I look over at him. He had on his normal outfit and was looking me over carefully.

"He just wants what is best for me." I say before biting the inside of my cheek. He had asked me once where I was born and now I was ready to tell him. "Alucard you asked me once where I was born. I don't know why you asked me but I was born here in Romania. My parents went out on a cruise and my mom went into labor not far from the shore." I say as I look away from him and he gives a small sigh before walking closer to me. "That is good to know." Alucard mumbles before he takes my hand in his. I didn't know what else to say or do. I hadn't asked him why he was acting like this or why he took a sudden interest in me. We just sit there in silence for a while before Alucard stands and puts a finger under my chin and forcing me to look up into his eyes. "Let us get to work." He says and I nod a little before letting him help me stand up.

He takes us back out to where we normally worked and halfway throw I was getting tired. After all today I had gone out with one of my courtiers who insisted on going hunting which I never really enjoyed. I understand the concept of it and why it is done but I didn't like to hunt cretin things and this man had chosen the one thing I hated to hunt. Alucard hits me harder than normal and I let out a whimper of pain making him stop what he was doing before rushing over to me and holding me close to his body. "Are you alright?" He asks and I see the worry in his eyes but I wasn't sure how to react to his kindness. "I'm fine. I'm just a little tired." I say and he furrows his brow a little. I had never seen him look this before now. He didn't say a word as he helped me to my feet before taking a few steps back and looks me over slowly as if he was looking for anything wrong with me.

After a few moments of him doing this he shakes his head a few times. "If your fine then lets get back to work." He says and I nod my head wanting this odd atmosphere between us to be broken. We train for about three hours before Alucard stops what he was doing. "We should go out on a real vampire hunt. You've never been and fighting a real one besides me would do you some good. We will do that tomorrow." Alucard says as he walks over to me. "A vampire hunt? But Integra would get angry if she heard about that." I say before biting the inside of my cheek once again. "She doesn't need to know about it." Alucard says simply before we go quiet and head to my room. Once there I walk around looking for my hair brush but a hand on my shoulder making me stop to look over at Alucard who was watching me carefully. "Sleep in tomorrow. You look like you really need it." He says before leaving me standing there alone stunned. I shake my head before taking a quick shower before getting in bed.

It was almost the end of my time here and the two people left that my uncle was please to have court me was Alucard and some man who to be honest I got along with him but I didn't have any feelings for him at all. Tonight was my last date with the other man before I had to head back to England. "Ecaterina are you excited about your date?" Uncle asks as he walks next to me down to the sitting room. I glance over at him before giving a small sigh and shaking me head a little. "Not really. I'm not saying that he is a bad man I just feel like something is missing between us." I say making my uncle frown a little. "Are you saying that Count Dracula is a better match for you?" He asks and I shake my head once again. "That's not what I'm saying ether. All I'm trying to say is that I feel like we aren't connecting in the right way to be married any time soon." I say before sweeping my hair our of my face.
