Chapter One

Companions

There were only click of my cameras and people talking in front of me. I was busy taking pictures the whole time of the mountains and forestry beauty outside of this van. I wasn't wrong to pick nature and simple living in the countryside as my subject for my next photography exhibition.

"I went here to unwind. The city is too noisy and crowded. I feel suffocated and couldn't think of, It's funny, but I would like to take a rest from the world there." Jay says as he chuckles,

"Same here, I wanted to run away, and I ended up being here.., Heeseung hyung laughed.

"I'm taking a break... just that." Riki Meanwhile the youngest said.

We didn't know each other and just did when we met at the Hanjibang airport. We all booked the same countryside homestay escapade, so we are now together.

"So, is there any reason why you wanted to travel?" Heseeung hyung asked me, everyone looked at me, and I nodded,

We all have our reason; theirs were to unwind, rest, escaping but mine was because of passion; Perhaps of showing the world something unseen through photography. This time about the stories of the countrysides and what it has.

I flashed a soft smile and showed them my camera. "It's going to be my next subject in my next exhibitions, appreciation of the beauty of living in the countryside. Simplicity and what it has," I said, then continued again, clicking my camera to get the mountainous view and the skies in my frame.

I used to think people thought little of the countryside, perhaps because of how simple it is, very different from the busy atmosphere and life in the cities. Still, I realized maybe it's because they only knew and thought of it as nothing but just greens with almost no establishment and life.

Perhaps they see the life here undeveloped, to put it frankly. If I have to be blunter, they seemly think of the countryside as inferior to the cities.

Something I never understand.

"Oh, so you're a photographer..." he said, "You must be good if you're doing exhibits," he added; he was smiling when I glanced at him.

People always think that way, I must be good; that's why I had different photography exhibits. In fact, I never found myself one. Whether I was good or not. I didn't really know; all I knew is I enjoy what I do. Perhaps that was the reason people attend my exhibits and enjoy them too.

Capturing what my camera could capture, including the beauty unseen and less appreciated by the world, especially a moment that could only happen once and its emotions. Showing all that, that is my passion is.

"I guess." I could only answer. It wasn't long when we arrived at our accommodation, it wasn't something extraordinary but just a homestay. I love it more than the hotels; people should talk, and not just be in their room at all times, especially on a trip like this.

As soon as I stepped down the van, the countryside breeze welcomed me. The smell of fresh autumn fall season invaded my system. The rice field ready for harvest in its full bloom, the field of rosemary and flowers at the other side, as well as the soil and mown grass mixed in the wind, lingered on me.

It was very different from the polluted air of the city. I held my camera dangling on my neck and captured the field of greenery in front of me. This is what I am here for. The subject of nature and simple living of the countryside, the beauty couldn't be seen in a crowded building and busy people of Seoul.

I started taking pictures of the welcome signboard that says 'Welcome to Sarang Homestay' placed in the middle of the field of different flowers in their front yard garden. At the back of it were mountainous views waiting for us.
