Innocent. The word people often used to described me but it never truly mattered to me, I had always assumed it was used in a nice way, "aw she's so innocent, that's adorable" never in a negative sense, but I guess actions have always spoke louder than words. Even so I usually never said much as it tended to be used by elders whom which I was raised to respect regardless of the foul things they say because as father says they always mean well.

I have always lived with my father, he has always known what's best for me and I have never had a reason to see otherwise. My father owns a rather large house anyway, I'm not sure what him and mother would do if I moved. Probably for the best, I suppose, I want to live here for eternity. I'd marry a nice man and bless them with grandchildren afterwards, it's what they've always wanted for me, and what I have always dreamed as-well.

Today is my nineteenth birthday, which means a party with Father's work colleagues and business associates, and their wives would be busy being entertained by mother. My only hope was one or two had a daughter or son I could associate myself with, these parties usually only had children whom probably are about 5-7 years of age, which was okay but I wanted someone who is around my age, whom of which I can befriend, luckily for me father mentioned he recently is trying to close a business deal with a new associate whom of which I've never met.

"Cassandra, darling could you come downstairs?" Mother says, I smile lighting up, this means everyone's finally here. Oh goodness, I crave new friends my age.

I look at myself in the mirror one last time, I'm wearing a pale pink dress that is tailored to hug my bust and pans out bast my waist and hips. It's a short sleeve that stops just slightly above my knees. It shows more more skin than I would have liked but mother loaned it to me and asked me to wear it. Along with it I'm wearing a light pink eyeshadow and a pink lipstick that's close to my normal lip color, as-well as pink heels.

I turn and walk downstairs, everyone's chatting it up with my father and my mothers right next to him waving me over. There's a girl next to them who's hair appears to be black. I can't see much of anything else on her but I rush over right away.

"Cassandra this is my new business associate Mark," my father says gesturing over to the man across from him and I give a small wave, "and this is his daughter Lilith."

Lilith rolls her eyes and turns her attention back to her cell phone, she's wearing a deep red dress that's low cut exposing her breasts, and two V cuts on the right side of the waist. The dress is bordering on her mid thigh. My eyes drift to her thighs, well her legs in general honestly. They were remarkably toned and tan, they made mine look pasty in comparison. I gave her a smile, she was genuinely beautiful.

"Cassandra, honey how about you show Lilith your room?" My mother says giving me a small smile, I nod in response.

"Honey how about you follow Cassandra to her room? Maybe you guys can acquaint yourselves."

I nodded and Lilith followed me up to my room, "Your guys' house is ginormous." She states on the walk up to my room.

I shrug, "I'm sure you and your fathers house is just as big!" She shakes her head signaling no.

I open my bedroom door for her, "well this is my room. You are free to touch whatever you please but I would like to keep shoes off the bed, if that's not tok much to ask?" Lilith nodded in response.

"So what do you do for fun?" I ask Lilith as she slips off her deep red heels, her calves are toned and her feet look to be freshly pedicured.

"Uh I don't really know, I guess I mostly watch Netflix or Hulu and probably text my friends, although I do like to explore like forests and things like that." Her voice is deeper than it was when we walked up then again maybe she was shy who was I to judge. However her voice had a seductiveness to it that made me want to hear it all the more.

"What do you do for fun, Cassandra?" The way my name rolled off her tongue was in a way that was like honey droplets. I loved how that sounded. Maybe too much? I wasn't sure I never really got this feeling from someone, maybe this is what friendship feels?

"Oh I play tennis on the court and swim from time to time, I too love exploring forests and if I'm not doing that type of thing, I tend to draw or read," I could feel myself about to ramble but I couldn't stop it, "I love Stephen King and James Patterson, but I also loved reading the classics like Shakespeare and Jane Austen. Oh, but my all time favorite writer is Marissa Meyer" I finally stop and flush red with embarrassment.

"My apologies for rambling I almost never do that unless I'm nervous but it's not like I'm nervous now, why would I be nervous you know?" I say flushing tomato red.

She smirks and stands up close next to me, "Do I make you nervous Cassandra? You know, It's ok if I do." Her face is inches from mine and I can smell her perfume it smells like vanilla and coconuts. I could get lost in that scent if it wasn't for her face being so close to mine. My instincts told me to lean in but that would make it weird right? Friends don't kiss? Plus I've barely known this girl and we've spoken once and it's been barely 2 sentences. Are we even friends? Why is she so close to me?

I shift, "No... You uh... don't make me nervous I just ramble when I'm excited or nervous. I got excited about books that's all."

Lilith looks me up and down before smirking, she bites her bottom lip and then walks over to the bed to sit again. I release the breath that I was subconsciously holding.

A/N- hey guys don't worry this won't be an every chapter thing! But hi I'm rain and this is one of the first books I've written and actually felt proud of so I'll try to publish a chapter a week and I hope you enjoy the read :)
