I sprinted through the woods, running in bare feet for the first time this season. I ran through the mud and the bushes. Looked down in my hand as the shard reflected in the setting sun's bright light, I smiled willing myself to go faster. I thought of the small shattered mirror I found as I walked into the woods, I grabbed the biggest peace of the broken mess and started to run in my woods freely.
Comming to a stop were the trees were so thin I could see out both sides of my narrow woods. I looked at the beaten down and muddy tracks left by no creature, this was a truck. These were truck tracks. They came into my woods and killed my trees. My blood boiled with fury. I'll have to deal with them later. I looked around one last time thinking of when these woods were thicker. Damn humans why do they have to ruin everything? I thought to myself before I continued to go deeper into the denser undergrowth. I ran to my favorite spot in the woods. A giant tree that was cut down by man, letting out a small grumble that sounded similar to a wolf's growl. It would have been the biggest tree in the forest if they hadn't cut it down. I thought again. I sat at the base of the tree were it was cut and looked at everything around me. Tall trees that could still continue to grow. The small crick that was only a few steps away. The tangled forest around the small clearing. I looked down to my hand once more and tried to rub off some of the dirt. Finally I stood up and walked over to the overflowed crick and rinsed off the small shard of broken glass. I pulled my hand out of the ice cold water, shaking it off. I went back to my original spot at the tree's trunk. I leaned back letting out a soft sigh. I thought of school and my friends but I mostly thought about the person that I wanted to share this beautiful location with. I let out another soft sigh. I need to be home by dark I told myself as I slowly walked a separate trail than the one I came through to avoid the mess made by man, leting out another low growl
