deaf [yoonmin]

1- prologue

Min Yoongi was, at first sight, a boy just like his classmates. But taking a closer look, you'd realize he barely paid attention to the teacher, who was telling the class about an upcoming test. You'd never see him raise his hand when the teacher asked questions. He never sat with his chatting classmates at lunch, he preferred sitting alone. You could assume he was more of a lone wolf, but the boy wanted nothing more than to have friends, or fit in. But he couldn't. He couldn't because he didn't understand what they said, what they laughed about. He couldn't because he was deaf. His whole life changed 7 years ago, when he was just an innocent 10 years old boy.

~~flashback~~
  A little boy happily reached out for his brother hands.Today, their father would come back from america, hopefully bringing them sweers and toys. The train arrived after ehat felt like hours and both boys started making their was thriugh the crwods to greet their father."Yoongi! Take my hand so you won't get lost!" the older one warned and the younger smiled "Silly Daehyun! I'm not a baby anymore".They continued shoving themselves through the crowd, finally reaching the train. They saw their father walking out, and he smiled at them. A few minutes later, they sat in Mr. Min's car and little Yoongi happily played with his iron-man actionfigure. Then it happened. Neither him or anyone else could see it coming, but the truck was driving at a rapid speed. Seconds later, there was a loud crash, then silence. When Yoongi opened his eyes again, he was in a bright white room. He realized as soon as he saw people dressed in white coming into his room. Their mouths moved, yet he couldn't hear a single word. The boy was utterly confused about it and decided to ask a doctor, but was shocked when he couldn't even hear his own voice. Finally, a doctor turned around, holding a sign. "Hello, I'm Doctor Park. Please don't be upset. I sadly have to tell you that the accident you got involved in crashed your eardrums, which means that you are deaf now." When he heard that, he immediatly teared up.

~~time skip- present~~
It has been 7 years since the incident. Yoongi ended up deaf and traumatized, his father left the family because he found a new wife and his brother died in the hospital as a result of the injuries he had gotten from the car accident. His father took all their money too, and his mother didn't have a good job, so they almost ended up on the streets. Luckily, Yoongi found a small apartment with a bathroom, a living room with kitchen area and two tiny bedrooms. It was in a rather poor corner of Seoul, but the boy was happy to have a home.Of course, he and his mother both learned sign language. But over the past years, his mother wasn't the same as before the incident. She wasn't the caring, friendly mother Yoongi loved anymore. She rarely talked to her son, and if she did so she would shout at him for not understanding her. She took their money to buy alcohol and was almost always drunk. Whenever it was especially bad and the smell of alcohol stung in Yoongi's lungs, he would grab his treasure, a basketball, and go to the park to shoot some hoops. Of course, there he was alone as well, but at least he was free to do whatever he wanted. And today was exactly one of these days.
