I'm on the verge of passing out but I can't reach the edge.

Going to school is already a struggle, considering I'm essentially nocturnal. I'll be just finishing dinner and getting myself a cup of coffee, and the sun will be coming up. Also, the fact that it's school; I've switched out of classes time and time again, trying desperately to find something that's actually interesting. Thought I finally hit the jackpot with cybersecurity, but I just end up mentally checking out.

I'm in my room laying on my back, my eyes lazily following the branches of the sakura I put on my ceiling. They begin to lull, and I can finally feel myself drifting to sleep.

And then it happens.

My newfound peace was interrupted by my one and only red boston terrier, Apollo, who came noisily barreling into my room. "Shit!" I jumped with surprise while he showered me with sloppy kisses. I'm definitely awake--pretty damn annoyed too--but Apollo still somehow managed to get a few chuckles out of me.

"Okay, okay," I grin. "What can I do for you, young man?"

He barks.

"Oh? You wanna go outside?"

A higher-pitched bark this time.

"Ehh, of course you do." I check the time.

5:42 p.m.

The sun is setting, but it's still bright out. I sigh.

Fuck it. I'm already awake.
