Naruto couldn't take his eyes off of his girlfriend. She looked so beautiful in the sunlight laughing at something he said. They were having a picnic to celebrate their three-year anniversary. They couldn't have been happier. There was so much they had done together and so much he knew they could do in the future. She was the woman he was going to marry. This was the woman who was going to create a family with him. She had stayed by his side even when he didn't see her. He wanted to make her the happiest woman alive and he would do anything in his power to do so.
"Naruto-kun, did you try the Macaroons?" She asked
"I'll only try if you feed me one," he said cheekily
Naruto adored the blush that grew on her face as she went to grab the desert for him. He would never get tired of it. He wanted to continue to make her blush even when they were old and gray. She brought the Macaroon to his lips and he took a bite. He didn't ignore how her eyes lingered on his lips.
"This is delicious Hina! I love eating everything you make," he praised
"Thank you!" His girlfriend beamed.
She always made the best things at her bakery. He was so happy that she followed her dreams and opened it. Everyone knew Hinata enjoyed baking and sharing her creations with others. The shop had grown in popularity recently but he was proud to say that he had always been a regular visitor. Their picnic comprised of deserts from her bakery and food from Ichiraku. They had been out for a while so most of the food was gone. They passed the time by talking and celebrating their love. They thoroughly enjoyed being in each other's company. He knew he would have to take her home soon, so he wanted to use the rest of the time they had.
"Hey, let's cloud gaze before it gets too dark," he suggested.
So they lay next to each other on their custom purple and orange picnic blanket. They clasped hands and began to point out the shapes they saw.
"I see a fox," she said
"I see a heart," he pointed
They kept it up until the sun began to go down. He pulled her up and got out his phone. They turned their backs to the sunset to snap and few photos of them with the sunset in the background. Then they put everything away and began to walk towards her family home.
"I had a lot of fun and your food is the best!" he exclaimed
"That makes me happy Naruto-kun," she replied bashfully
"Of course, I live to please you," he said sincerely as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer.
They joked and tickled each other for the rest of their walk. Trying to stretch the time they had left. Sadly they reached her home and little too soon and it was time for her to go. He racked his brain thinking of things to say to stop her from going into the house. All he could think to do was wrap her in an embrace.
"I like the way you smell," he mumbled into his girlfriend's shoulder as they hugged, desperate not to break contact because it meant she would have to go.
"Thank you?" she chuckled not quite sure how to take it.
His arms tightened around her waist as the two stood there hugging.
Naruto wishing Hinata would stay and Hinata silently wishing to never leave Naruto's grasp.
He continued to think until he just decided to blurt out what he really wanted to.He grasped her shoulders and moved her arm's length away from him. He stared her deep in the eyes and shouted his deepest desire.
"Move in with me!" He cried
She just blinked at him. He was holding his breath waiting for her answer. One blink, Two blinks, three blinks were all it took for him to backtrack and stammer out an apology.
"I'm sorry if it's too soon. It's just that I love you and I really hate dropping you off. I want to wake up with you every day and cook together at our place. I understand if you aren't ready for t-" he rambled until she put her finger to his lips.
"Yes," she breathed.
Time stopped for him. He couldn't believe his ears.
"C-c-can you say that again," he stammered.
"Yes. I will move in with you, Naruto-kun," she cemented.
He broke out in tears. He had never been happier. His girlfriend, his future, was going to move in with him. He was going to be waking up with her in the morning and going to bed with her at night. When he felt her smaller hands try to wipe his tears for him it made him cry harder. He picked her up and spun her around. They were both crying and laughing in the middle of the street outside the house. He was sure someone would think they were insane if they passed by.
"Awwwwwww," they heard a familiar voice ring out
The couple gazed up at the window overlooking the street. There his girlfriend's father, sister, and cousin were staring down at them. He could swear he saw the elder Hyuga wiping away tears. The two both lit up red and Hinata shooed her family away. Once they both calmed down from the excitement they sat on the porch.
"Living with you has been a dream of mine for a long time. I'm so happy you asked me," she expressed.
"Thank you for being with me all these years and even allowing me the opportunity to ask you," he smiled.
The two shared a kiss and discussed plans for something that was once a fantasy but was now their reality.
