Underground City

underground city chapter 1

         The world above, is no more. The  only thing up there is the un livable weather conditions. It was to much to bare, fires, floods, hurricanes. Not even a Rat could live up there. Society escaped, to the underground. Bringing resources to start a new... not expecting to see, Monsters...they lurk around. And there favorite meal is human. Its been decades now and we're still trying to adapt. Society has built city's, and dug out Tunnels leading to multiple places, the population is mostly kids and teenagers, adults would go out into the tunnels to slay monsters. But most never come back.. sometimes monsters would invade the tunnels. Hence why everyone must ware a hard hat with a light attached to it. The monsters don't like the light. But humans of the underground have also adapted to the darkness. People would go missing often..or you would find there remains in a tunnel. Its weird. Humans would usually be the predators..but this time were prey. Similar to street lights, there is a timer, the lights go off  at 8:00 every night. But...you never really know if its night. There is a curfew every one must follow... the monsters come out after 8:00. All we can do is pray, and pray, and pray. Every one in the underground is vegetarian. We grow plants, thats all we ever grow. Carrots, potatoes, corn and plenty of other things. Adaptation takes work... but there is a limit on how much work you can put into things.. Damion closed the history book and fell asleep
