Iraq / Domo

Anastasia

We arrive at the sight of where we left the Domo. As we come out into plain site, Druig controls the archeologists on site and makes them leave. They don't need to know about or be around for anything that is about to happen next. Phastos raises our chip from the ground, it's good to be at some semblance of home.

We walk through the main hallways towards Phastos' lab. Kingo is doing his little documentary thing, making everything very ominous with his voice over. Thena steps on a bag of chips and it pops cousin Phastos to jump and squeal. I laugh openly before continuing on.

We find Makkari perched on a throne in the middle of the lab. All of my books are everywhere. I guess she's been busy reading and snacking. Gods this place is a mess. I'm assuming that this is where she's been the last 500 years. Phastos is going to have an aneurism over the disarray of his lab.

"What has she done? Is that... a sarcophagus in my lab?!" He exclaims.

She looks up at us, genuinely happy to see us. She asks if it is time to go home, she can tell by the looks on our faces that we aren't going anywhere for the time being. Phastos gets to work while Sersi and I start moving the books back to the library to start making room for Phastos to work. Everyone else is milling about, looking at all the artifacts and treasures Makkari has apparently come into possession of while Kingo fills Makkari in on everything that we've discovered about the emergence so far. She seemed to have taken it better than the rest of us. I'm walking back in as Druig walks up to Makkari with an emerald tablet.

"So, how did you end up scoring this Emerald Tablet, my beautiful, beautiful Makkari?" She snags the tablet from his hands. "Did you miss me?" He signs to her. I'm going to be sick.

"I'm sorry, what are we watching? Because this... Are you two..." Phastos starts.

"Is this new? Because I hate it." Kingo says.

"What happened to Anya?" Phastos asks, crossing his arms.

"Phastos, I need to control the mind of a Celestial." Druig changes the subject. Phastos shows us what he's made; bracelets, to channel our powers and no one seems impressed. I give him a small smile to show that I am. It takes true genius to make sometime so small and fragile be so powerful. His name for it could use some work. Uni-mind is a bit too simple for me, brainstorm that Kingo suggested sounds better. But I personally feel like 'mind meld' or something of the like would have also sufficed. Now that we're finished with that, I turn on my heel and storm back the way I came from. I didn't need to see or hear any of the exchange between Druig and Makkari and anything else I can be filled in on later. I also know damn well that that was not an illusion. I just need to get my wits about me again, shut it all out. That's all I have to do, turn everything off again. I can do that. It doesn't matter if I'm lying to myself now, I have to believe it enough to get through stopping the emergence. Just when I thought I got him to myself, but maybe I was just fooling myself.

Druig finds me library, frantically reorganizing the books I've brought in there. "Anastasia." He tries to gain my attention, but I just keep going. "Anastasia." He tries again, but I still refuse to turn around, trying so hard not to be affected. "Anastasia." He finally turns me around.

"Oh, so you do know who I am. I was beginning to think you had forgotten."

"And it seems you can hear me."

"Trust me, Druig, I hear plenty." I bite out at him.

"Anya."

"Don't "Anya" me, please. Did anything we said mean anything?"
