Chap 2

Finn…. Finn wake up..” Finn groaned while Wren continued to shake him. “Not now…. It hurts..” Wren uncovered Finn, “Finn? Where does it hurt?” he asked. Finn did not reply. Finn’s eye was not open, he was still sleeping. Wren touched Finn’s forehead. ‘Please don’t leave me, I don't want to be alone again. I don’t want to be abused or tortured ever again. My heart aches so badly I just want to see you again Grandpa, why did you leave me so soon.’  Wren could see Finn’s thoughts. Finn opened his eyes, “O..oh… Good morning.. Did I miss anything?” Finn rubbed his eyes. “Ah no you didn’t…..” Wren replied.
“My head, it hurts.”
“Oh do you need medicine?”
“No, the pain is on my head…”
“Let me check for you, yeah?”
Wren stood up and touched his top head, he felt 2 bumps. “What is it?....” Finn asked. Wren could not believe his eyes. There were 2 horns on top of Finn’s head. “cuernos del diablo…’’ (Devil horns…) Finn was confused. “Sorry but what?” Wren sat down on the bed. “It’s nothing serious! Just a few bruises, for now just wear…. uhm…. Oh just wear this for now!’’ Wren gave Finn a beanie. “Oh… okay…” Finn took the white beanie with yellow bee patterns and wore it.
“How old are you, don’t mind me asking. “
“Oh, I'm 17 years old. I'm still studying… How about you?”
“19.”
Finn was stunned. “What? I’m not that old….” Wren grumbled. Finn giggled, “tsk you will get it from me next time. Let’s enrol you into a school. You have lots to learn.” Wren said.
“But I’m a devil-”
“No one will know if you hide your tail and wear that hat. If they ask you why you don't have wings, just say ‘ask Sir Díaz’. “
“Who is that?”
“You don’t need to know.” Wren said, sternly. “Wash up and pack your things, I’ll be outside this dorm waiting for you.” Finn nodded.

‘Sir Díaz…? Who is that?’ Finn pondered while taking a shower.
He got out of the shower and packed his bag. “Finn are you done?” Wren shouted out. “Almost!” Finn shouted back. “Hello grandpa, this is Finn. I made it. I hope everything goes well. Please guide me along the way…” Finn prayed.

Finn unlocked the door and met Wren. “Oh you’re done, let’s go get breakfast then enrol you in my school. You would be starting lessons tomorrow, you would just have a trip around the school to be familiar with. Does it sound okay?” Wren asked. Finn nodded. “Okay great, let’s go into my car.”  Wren swung his keys while walking to the lift. ‘I wonder what school will be like here…. I wonder what food they eat too…’ Finn was excited.

“Do you have any food preference for breakfast?” Wren asked Finn while starting the car. Finn tilted his head. “ Preference..?” Wren was confused. “Do you not have any? What did you usually eat?’’, “ just cabbage soup and rice….” Wren was in shock. “That’s all?” Finn nodded. “Ohoho you’re missing out a lot. Let me bring you to a cafe I love to go to, I am sure you will fall in love with it too.” Wren said confidently. Finn was excited.

After a few minutes of driving, they arrived at a cafe called ‘Aroma Mocha’.
“Welcome… Oh! Si-”
“Shh…”
“Welcome….”
Wren smiled. “Let’s go find a seat yeah?’’

Finn scanned through the menu. He was completely lost. “You seem confused, is there anything you can’t read?” Wren asked. “It’s… It’s all in… Spanish?” Finn said. “Oh… Let me translate for you, alright?” Wren reassured. “You have, mac and cheese, cappuccino, black coffee, hot dog and scrambled eggs…” Wren read out. Finn knew none of them. “We have pancakes with syrup too.” Finn looked up from the menu. “Pancakes?”
“Oh? You like them?”
“No, I never ate those before, my grandfather told me about those.”
“Okay let’s get pancakes then.” Wren smiled.
Wren ordered their breakfast. “Thank you for your order!” The waitress thanked Wren. Finn patiently waited for his food. “Try to contain your excitement later on, we don’t want anyone in this cafe to suspect you…” Wren whispered to Finn.
