Okay, wow. That went quite well, didn't it?
I don't know who'd care for this, but I wanted to add this author's note in the end to explain the ending. I can understand how, if you followed Harry and Louis through the book, the ending might seem awfully abrupt and really sad in contrast to the rest of the book.
The thing is, I worked on this book for a long while and it took me longer still to finally publish it. As a result, I had a good amount of time debating the ending in my head. I knew that I wanted this to be an innocent comfort fic about two boys growing up together and falling in love but I also knew that I wanted the ending to be a touch more on the realistic side. I'm just the kind of person who finds a book or situation too good to be true if it's all happy and hunky-dory the whole while, and it felt equally weird to me to write a book like that.
So, I decided to write a bittersweet ending. I know it's sad and definitely sudden how they have to part ways, but I also like the idea of tomorrow. The hope and promise of it. This also enabled me to have an open-ended well, ending. It's nice because now, you're free to conjure whatever ending you'd like for our favourite pair of boys. They'd definitely have a happy ending if I were to write further, but I'm just gonna leave it here and call it a day.
So, kind reader on the internet, I hope you enjoyed your time with this book. I hope it brought that beautiful smile to your face and I hope it was your companion in a few precious moments of laughter as well. I hope I didn't disappoint. I apologize if I did. Know that I never intended to. Again, thank you for reading my work. I love you for it.
Until the next one.
~ Love, T.
