Todoroki's P.O.V

I have to run to catch up to Midoriya. 

"Why are you so excited about this?" 

"Because you've been out for more than a day and you're finally awake and I like talking to you and- Endeavor's here?" He says, stopping suddenly in front of our open classroom door.

"Father is here? Why?" I ask, poking my head in. Aizawa looks at me. He stops conversing with my father and immediately heads for me. He stops in front of me and examines me closely. 

"Are you alright Todoroki? You gave us quite a scare. You've been asleep for 2 days." He asks, looking me over. "Why is there a gray heart under your eye? Midoriya wasn't that black before?" Midoriya looks at me, tilting my face so he can see it. I feel my face warming slightly again. 

"Oh- yeah. That's another side effect Aizawa remember? At least that's what she said. The heart matches your mood so that means... Todoroki how do you feel right now?" I pause. 

"Umm... Confused? I think that's it." He nods and writes something down in a notebook. Aizawa looks at me quizzically and then beacons father to come over. And father does not look happy. 

"Shoto. How could you be so stupid? You let a middle school girl incapacitate you for 2 days? Are you out of your mind?" He grabs my arm harshly and begins pulling me down the hall. "Come. you've already lost 2 days of training we can't afford to let you fall behind any longer." I look back at Midoriya. He seems worried. Something flashes, a feeling in my stomach, and normally I'd just go with him but this time I jerk out of his grasp and back away. 

"No." He turns slowly to me, an almost murderous look in his eyes. 

"What?" 

"I said no. I'm quite fine where I am thanks." I say, crossing my arms and resting my weight on one hip. This is defiance. I know it is. I've never done this before and I don't think he's going to take it very well. He looks like he's going to explode. I feel like I might too. I've never been upset at my father. 

"Don't be ridiculous Shoto. You'll come home at once, or there will be no more outings with your stupid little friends. They're a distraction anyways." 

"What friends, father? I have no friends! Midoriya is my only friend because you isolate me from everyone else I mean hell I had to tell you he was helping me with my studies just so you would let me talk to him." 

"Well there goes your privilege to talk to that green haired little twerp. He's all Might's successor I should've never let you speak to him in the first place. Now you will come home now or I'm burning your pictures. And that stupid stuffed animal you seem to be so attached to." He grabs me again and attempts to drag me away when Aizawa cuts in. 

"Wait just a minute. Shoto, did you get a chance to read through the admission and enrollment paperwork before school started?" I shake my head. I look up at my father and see his eyes go wide. 

"Shut it Aizawa or I'll have your job." He says. I look at Midoriya, a huge grin on his face. "What are you smiling at?" 

"Well Mr. Todoroki, if you had read the paperwork, which I'm sure you did, you would know that as soon as Shoto was enrolled in school he became an emancipated minor which means you no longer decide where he lives or who he's with. Which also means you no longer have any legal right to govern his life or his education. He's allowed to do what he wants to." Midoriya explains, smiling widely. "That means Shoto can come and live with me and you can't say shit about it so how about you let him go before I call All Might down here to haul you to prison for assault." My father looks angry. I feel his hand warming on my arm and wretch away from him again. Aizawa shrugs and smiles at me.
