"I'm glad you're back" Clarisse said with a gentleness that she hardly ever let show. Chris was the exception- She could let her guard down around him. She really cared about him, you know? Sure, he had been one of the traitors, but that's never what she saw when she looked at him. It was wild how she could look into his eyes and see the world.
"Me too" the boy responded with a smile as he threw a twig into the campfire to keep it going. For a second, Clarisse swore she saw Percy looking at them from the bushes, but he ran off before she could confirm it. It didn't matter though. She could bash his face in later.
"Do you know what happened to Luke?" Chris suddenly asked. The question had been bugging him ever since he was cured by Dionysus. Clarisse looked a bit uncomfortable like she did whenever he brought up Luke. She supposed their teaming made sense- Hermes' kids stick together, right?- But she still didn't like to think about it too much.
"According to fish brain, his body was taken by Kronos" she told him, and he seemed sad but not surprised. "That would explain all the... Preparation he was going through" he replied vaguely. "I just... It's crazy that Kronos can take over a mortal body"
"Yeah, well" Clarisse began with a sigh. "You Hermes kids are tough"
"Fuck yeah we are"
