"Salam alaikum mama, what's wrong?" I asked through the phone. We just left home so what could be so urgent that she will call me now.

"There's a serious issue at home so you and shamisya should come home quick" my mom said and hung up immediately.

I rushed downstairs and informed shamisya. She was sad but obliged and in no time we were on the road. We reached home immediately went and only to find my mom, dad, Khalifah and ya muhmmad seated in the living room.

Oh Allah please let everything be okay, the looks on my brothers faces are scary, they look angry and sad at the same time.

My dad gestured for us to seat after all the greetings. We sat quietly and waited for what is to come.

I just hope it's not anything related to dad health.

"Mami, me and your mum have decided to get you married to Alhaji Sagir son my dad said and my mum nodded looking sad.

"What?"

That wasn't me but shamisya. I was so shocked that I couldn't utter a single word.

"No, this isn't possible. Dad how can you decide to get her married to someone she doesn't know and love this is unfair dad. Mom why aren't saying anything?

"Mami, I know you think I am unfair to you but I want you to know that we  only agreed to this marriage after thinking about it. He is a very good man and a responsible person, I assure you that we won't regret making this decision.

I am not going to force you into this if you don't want to but I will like you to think about it and tell me what your reply is.

"Mami tell them you won't marry him" shamisya said, shaking my arm and that seems to bring me back to reality.

"Dad, I agree to this marriage i said calmly. I looked at my sister and she glared back at me.

"Please Mami, I know you're only agreeing because it is I who asked. I know you, and I know you do not wish to marry someone you don't know but I assure you, Adnan is a wonderful man and he is going to be a good husband to you.

I'm not happy with this marriage i have never imagined myself getting married to someone I don't even know or love but I can't just say no to this marriage proposal because my dad seems happy with the arrangements. I will do anything to make my parents happy.
I put my trust in Allah first and want nothing more but what he decides for me.

"Mami, I want you to accept this marriage as your Qadr and I assure you Allah will bring out the best in it. Said Ammi".

I couldn't utter a word, so I simply nodded.

"May Allah bless and protect you, Mami".

Adnan POV

I've been in my office staring at blank space for almost an hour now. I have been thinking of what happened between Abba and I earlier this week.

I was back from the masjid after isha prayer when he sent the maid to call me to his living room.

"Have a seat Adnan." He mentioned for me a seat across from him. I sat on the chair.

"Abba, Good evening." I greeted.

"Good evening my son, how is work?"
I replied him.

He cleared his throat and scratched his beard.

"Adnan, don't you think it is high time for you to get married, you are not getting younger my son. It is high time for you to settle down and start building you own family, so do you have anyone in mind?"

I sighed deeply, " I agree with you Abba.
No, I don't have anyone in mind."

Honestly, I do not agree, I do not wish to get married now but I can tell from Abba's face he really wants this.

He nodded, "okay then, because I do have someone."

"Who is it Abba?" I asked, curious to know who the girl my father wishes for me to marry is.

"Alhaji Kabir Qasim's daughter Maryam."

I only nodded.

After a long advice from him, he said.
"Please create a time and go meet her."

May Allah bless and protect you, my son.

*******
Today I'm going to go and meet her as agreed.
Abba said her name is Maryam.

I sighed and stood up from the chair, picked up my car keys and left the office.

I called ya Safiyah and told her that I was going to the girls house today.

"Adnan" she said

"Yes".

"Please be nice to her. I know the girl too was probably forced into this marriage and I know she won't be that bad".

"Toh naji, I'll be nice. bye"

I ended the call upon reaching the house.  I honked and the security guy opened. I was ushered into a living room by a girl about 20 I guess.

Good evening.

I answered her with a smile and she left to call her sister.

Few minutes later, a girl wearing brown comes in with a Salam, and I answered.

She walked menacingly to the farthest couch in the living room and sat.

"Ina wuni" she greeted with a sweet voice.
