emma walked out of school with me, her talking about this boy in our class who she had a crush on.

"he's staying here for college. going to ucla. that's so far from savannah!" she whined.

"hey! hansol lives in korea! how do you think i feel?" i laughed at her complaining, gently slapping her arm.

she shot me a glance before smiling as well. "fair point. at least you know hansol likes you!" she reasoned. "are you ever gonna tell josh? or like, anyone else besides woozi and me?"

of course emma knew. emma was my best friend- and it's not like we were in korea with thousands of seventeen fans.

i shrugged, "one day, yeah. i don't know how josh will react. and we're not even 'dating'." i said, using air quotations around the word dating.

"you practically are!" she laughed.

"still! how many dating rumors have i shown you about me?" i asked her.

"well there was that one with mingyu- and then the one with wonwoo, oh yeah and dino. jeonghan, too-"

"exactly! if i walk out of the house with one of them, it's a dating rumor." i reasoned with her.

"ok! ok! you're right!" she laughed, putting her hands up in defeat.

"happy birthday my aeji!" i heard hansol scream through the phone as soon as i answered.

12:05am. i was just woken up, only my dim lamp on the bedside table to light my face.

"yah- hansol-ah. what are you doing?" i said, not being able to hold back the smile that was growing on my face.

"being the first person to wish you happy birthday, of course!" i couldn't help but notice the big grin on his face, full of excitement.

"thank you." i smiled, rolling around to look more presentable. "you're too cute."

"i miss you birthday girl." he pouted.

"i miss you too, hansol-ah. where's everyone else? can they hear you?"

he shook his head, "a lot of them went to the grocery store. the others are sleeping."

"ah, so we can call in private for once?" i laughed lightly.

"i can say whateverrr i want!" he said, maybe a bit too loudly.

"i come back next month." i pointed out. "i keep watching the first win video. it makes me so happy."

"i can't wait for those celebration hugs you were talking about." he smiled, "no but actually it doesn't even feel real. everything's perfect right now. we got our first win, the albums doing great, and my aeji comes here soon."

"you do know this is just the beginning, right?" i mentioned.

"yeah, and i can't wait. can you promise me something?" he asked.

"hm?"

"stay with seventeen until the end, no matter what happens?"

"i promise."
