In the courtroom the four of us were left behind with Mrs Jensen, after clearing her desk she turned around and smiled at us all weakly. No matter how hard the trial had been for us it was also just as difficult for her to try and get justice for her son's girlfriend and friend. Clay and I both took our girlfriend's hand and gave a reassuring squeeze
'So what happens now Mrs Jensen?' I asked, speaking up for the group
'Well the jury goes away and they'll deliberate over the evidence that Mrs Golden and I presented to them'
'How long would that normally take' Jessica enquired
'There isn't a set time limited for how long they should deliberate for, it takes as long as it takes I'm afraid'
'So what? It could be anything between like ten minutes to a couple of weeks' Clay retorted
'Not exactly like that because either side can file for a mistrial if a verdict is reached in like ten minutes. From similar cases I've been on the deliberation has last a couple of days' She informed us
'How will the jury let us know when they have reached a verdict?' Hannah asked
'Well the court will be put in session each day before they are dismissed to their room, you all won't be required to attend but the jury will inform the clerk as soon as they as have reached a unanimous decision'
'What do we do between now and then Mrs Jensen?' I proclaimed
'For the best interest of the trail I'd advise the four of you to stay out of sight from the limelight. Don't go out in public until we are all summoned back to this courtroom'
'We could all go to mine and hang out there' Jessica suggested
'I'm sorry to say Jessica but your home and the Baker's will be a hotspot for news reporters, you will be bombarded with questions on your thoughts on the trial, the jury members that have been selected or Mr Walker in general' Mrs Jensen replied
'Which could give grounds for the defence team to fill for a mistrial if a verdict goes against Bryce' I exclaimed
Mrs Jensen nodded her head at our unfortunate situation. Whilst Bryce had his future in the hands of the jury, If anyone connected to the prosecution team slipped up in public to the media that would hand him a lifeline and get him acquitted.
'What if we all went back to our home Mom? It's safe and private enough that any news channels wouldn't come knocking on the lead prosecution's door'
'You are all welcomed to crash down our home till the trial is over' Mrs Jensen smiled warmly
Mrs Jensen instructed us to head towards the cars whilst she would follow us out and dealt with any of the press waiting outside on the court steps. The security guard pushed open the doors for us whilst other members of staff cleared a path for us to walk down, looking over my shoulder I saw hundreds of microphones pushed in front of Mrs Jensen face
'What time will your mom be back to the house Clay?' Jessica asked
'She'll have to go to the office to collect some papers but she should be back around six' he informed us.
We carpooled into Mrs Jensen's Prius that she had lent Clay to get us to their home, photographers lined up the carpark to get some quick snaps for tomorrow's newspaper articles as we climbed in the vehicle. Finally being able to drive past them we quickly left the courthouse, The journey to the Jensen's household wasn't long and we got there in twenty minutes
Luckily the street was mostly empty and no journalists had started to arrive yet to scope out the house for any opportunities to meet us. Clay led us into the household living space and made us feel welcomed, Before we could even sit down Clay was waiting nervously by the open doors to show us around
