A small pegasus filly by the name of Mery was patiently waiting for her best and only friend Zipp at the orphanage to come to visit her like she promised but instead a royal guard came up to her with a blank expression.
Guard: are you Mery Firelight?
Mery: yes
Guard: this is for you from Princess Zipp
The Guard then gave Mery a letter and walk off. Mery then looked curiously at the letter then opened it and it said " Dear Mery, I'm sorry but I won't be coming to visit you and we can't be friends anymore. - Zipp "
Mery's eyes began to tear up and she ran into the orphanage leaving the letter on the ground with tears falling down her cheeks. She ran pass the other fillies and colts in the orphanage and ran straight into her room and locked her door. She jumped on her bed and hugged her pillow to cry into it.
Mery: why Zipp ( sniffs ) is it something I did? ( She said as she cried )
Mery then heard one of the orphanage staff members calling the fillies and colts for lunch. Mery slowly got off her bed, unlock her door, and walked out of her room with a sad expression looking at the ground as she walked to the cafeteria. When she got their she just sat down at the table that was in the far corner of the room not wanting to eat or talk to anyone. Mery then heard some of the fillies and colts whispering mean things about her. Mery just try to hold back more tears but then she heard a fillies say " I wouldn't be surprised if the princess stopped being friends with a weirdo like her I mean who actually wants to be friends with a filly who wants to cast spells like a unicorn " something snapped within Mery after she heard that causing her saddness turn into anger and for her to slam her hooves on the table
Mery: shut up all of you! I rather be a unicorn then be as rude and arrogant as all of you! Heck I bet if I just disappeared one day you all wouldn't even care! You'll all be to busy celebrating to care! ( She yelled with tears falling down her cheeks )
Mery then bolted out of the cafeteria ignoring the staff members calling her name and yelling her to come back. Mery then ran out of the gate of the orphanage and lefted Zephyr Heights without looking back.
( Time skip later )
Mery has been living in a forest filled with crystals for weeks alone with her own thoughts. Then she heard the sounds of a filly crying to find a group of unicorn fillies, a few changelings fillies, five earth pony fillies, and four baby dragons. One of the unicorn fillies looked to only be a toddler and was the one crying. One of the Earth pony colts saw Mery hiding in the bushes and protectively glared at her.
Earth pony colt: who goes there?!
Mery slowly walked out of hiding and looked at the group with tears stains still on her face.
Mery: it's ok I'm Mery, Mery Firelight who are all of you and why are all of you in the forest with a toddler?
The earth pony colt softened his face when he saw the tear stains on Mery's face and the others lowered their guards as well. The earth pony colt then said
