Chapter 1- Enchanted castles, invisible people and candy houses

Flashback. The year 1590 (104 years since previous events)

The beast laid in her chambers, not asleep but eyes closed. It's been 104 years since her cursing and all attempts she made to try and break it, failed. People ran from her. The men that were once desperate to have her now hid in fear. She had no chance.

None.

 8 years earlier.

The only hope she had now was that to have people forget about her. That hopefully by now she was only a distant memory or a dream. Maybe even a folk-tale told by the elders. All she wanted was to be left alone. Let her wallow and weep at her fate in peace.

Now she lived in a tall and wide castle in an open breezy meadow like area. The woods separated her from what she had known to be the rest of the world.

The place was abandoned when she found it, but whoever the previous owner were, were certainly blessed. The left behind fancy, expensive house-wear. She had already made up her mind about staying. An old falling apart castle seemed perfect for a disgusting beast.

However, she thought to herself, "I don't deserve such nice things. No beast does."

Over the course of two days she walked around exploring, as well as hoping to find food.

“Maybe it’s friendly.” A happy cheery like voice whispered.

The beast turned around quickly preparing to apologize for intruding, but…there was no one there.

“odd.” She said to herself.

‘Friendly? Gretel look at it. The thing could swallow you whole. You see those teeth? There for nom nom noming.”

‘WHO’S THERE?”  the beast growled. “WHO SAID THAT? COME OUT AND FACE ME YOU COWARDS!”

“You see, you made it angry! Great job sis. Now lets just back away. Slowly. We can still get outta this.

“No! ”

“What’d you mean no?”

“I’m going to say hi.”

“Gretel!”

“Hansel! You see this is your problem you never take chances. We escaped a witch we can escape this….thing. whatever it is.”

“Need I remind you we only barely escaped?”

“Hansel?” The beast mumbled to herself. “Gretel? The two children who disappeared?”

“GRETEL NO!”

“Wimp.”

“Who are you calling a wimp sister? I took a chance and now look at the mess we’re in. Besides we don’t know-“

“SHOW yourselves.” The beast growled getting irritated. She could hear the voices and they sounded close by, but there was no one there, just her and her shadow.  She was certain she had gone mad.

Footsteps drew closer. The sounded like they belonged to a child.

“Show yourself.” She said again.

“I’m afraid I can’t.” the girl’s voice –Gretel- said sounding like she was right in front of her. “Well, I’m Gretel, and that’s my brother Hansel.” A small hand touched her clawed one.
