Chapter 2- The lost boys
Samuel’s POV, 1801
It was sunset over the little town in France. My boys were outside playing while my daughters were learning how to properly clean up after themselves with their mother in kitchen. I stayed young and radiant for years, this was my third family since….her.
I do still think about…her. Do I say, dare breathe, her name? Adorabella. She broke me. I remember feeling the harsh sting of rejection that night. I was just a boy, not even 14 yet. I was brave like mother said I should be. Still, she watched as her parents kicked me out, not uttering a single word to me. I even brought her the best pig my little family could afford.

“It doesn’t matter mother.” I said with tears in my eyes, not that she could tell with the rain.
“I am so sorry Sammy.” She hugged me. I got upset and I felt my palms heat up, just as if they were on fire.
“I just thought she liked me, that’s all.” I cried. “She said stuff to me. Sweet stuff. Surely that meant- UGH! She listened to me. Why wouldn’t she-“ I continued to bawl, barely getting my words out.
“Hush Sammy.” Mother said, hugging me.
“Kill her mom. Kill her. Make her feel my pain. Make her feel how it feels to be rejected.” I said into her shoulder. “It isn’t fair, no one person should get all that love just because of…beauty.”
I was only saying that because I was small, and scrawny, and unloved. Adorabella, with her kind heart and face, changed all that. Suddenly it wasn’t so bad. Sure not everyone liked me, but she did, and that made it better. Then out of nowhere she just turns me down. I bet she saw me coming and begged her parents to say no. That hurt. I cried and screamed as lightening flashed across the sky.
“I won’t do that Sammy.” Mother said, and picked me up to carry me back to our broken down little shack.
I cried more when she put me in bed. She laid down with me and hugged me till I fell asleep.
I dreamed of revenge. Revenge over the girl who refused to marry me.

“You said you wouldn’t” I stated to my mother who was looking down proudly at her work. I admit. Seeing adorabella was a huge shock. Seeing her like this, almost gave me a heart-attack.
“She deserved it.” Mother said.
“She did NOTHING wrong.” I said. Although I really wanted to get my revenge on her, I didn’t expect what my mother would do to be so…intense. “Mother lift the spell.” I said lowly.
“I can’t.” She admitted. I felt my heart drop a bit. Adorabella would have to live like this. Forever.
“ don’t like this.” I told my mother long after The beast had left.
“What don’t you like about it Sammy? You said you wanted-“ She looked at me with innocent eyes.
“I was foolish.” I grumbled. “I take it back, I didn’t mean it.”
I felt like I wanted to cry. Mother hugged me then apologized, kissing my cheek.
Adorabella. I would say if I could talk to her, I will always love you.

“Father, we’re going to the well to catch water.” My oldest son, Peter said bringing me out of my flash back.
“The well isn’t in the woods Peter. “ I said smiling. He and his brothers began to run off laughing.
“Yeah, I know.” He called back.
“BE CAREFUL!”
That was the last thing I ever said to my sons.
Peter’s POV
“Pweter, wook at this.” My youngest brother said pointing to a painting of a beautiful girl with long golden hair and a radiant smile.
“Peter lets go home, we shouldn’t be here.” My brother whom I nicked named tootles said.
“Oh, its alright. I’ll protect you. You know, if you’re scared.” I laughed The sound echoed throughout the palace.
“Peter please. Think logically here. If this place is abandoned then why would the fire place be lit?”
I paused. That made sense. All seven of us turned to face the blazing fire.
“Pweter.” one of the twins said. “I’m scared.”
There was a low growl. Then right before I could react a sharp clawed hand grabbed tootles and pulled him backward.
The twins started to cry.
“Tootles?”
“Tootles? Where tootles go??”
“Nickolas.” I said in a stern voice like father would. “This is NOT funny. Nickolas you stop this right now. Come out here. We will go home. I promise.”
No response. My eyes started to water. I lowered my voice. “Please.”
I heard a loud scream. It only lasted the fraction of a second before it was cut short.
The last thing that happened that night was, I was faced with the devil himself, in the form of some misshapen creature.
“Peter pan?” It growled.
What scared me was the fact that it knew my name.
“Samuel’s son?” It eyed me looking somewhat confused. All I could do was nod. It growled, more like screeched in agony before me, and for a second I prayed it was dying. That was not the case.
